Title: Day One camo owners, need some help
Post by: Drew on December 04, 2009, 10:56:00 AM
just looking for some feed back on the product, and camo patterns.

I'm leaning towards the wool or saddlecloth/buck suede/weathergaurd.

Bucksuede is better than Saddle Cloth and wool...well its all quality stuff. My only suggestion, order your waist size 2" larger so you can layer for colder weather. Take your measurements and call Gary, he will work with you all the way.

I'm also partial to their fleece. I love the Parka and my customers love the pullover and some of its features. I've sold quite a bit of Day One and no one has complained yet.

I have the fleece pullover (asat), and the fleece parka (predator fall gray).
The pullover, has just the windstop, the parka windstop with thinsulate.
LOVE them both! the fleece is very quiet and has decent water repelency.
Make sure you wash the fleece inside out the first few times. I did with the parka, but not with the pullover, and the pullover is quite "pilly"
My buddy has the wool pants and parka with windstop, he loves them also.
I just ordered a pair of the wool pants with windstop. Can't wait until they arrive!!!
You can't go wrong with Dayone

I have a bucksuede Day one parka in advantage timber camo insulated and with wind stop. I really like mine.

I wasn't sure about the tall weather check collar, but I soon decided I liked it alot. When the cold wind blows it's a great feature.

Bucksuede is the way to go if you don't like picking burrs off your clothes. That is the one thing I hate about wool,or fleece it picks up everything in the woods.

Gary at Day one builds a great product. He might be a little slow on delivery time so keep that in mind and order early.

I have 2 day one archers jackets about ten years old. Both are made very well and have held up well. My saddlecloth jacket is stiff and noisy in cold weather and the asat fleece is silent and warm.

I have a fleece pullover, unlined in Predator Deception. I love it, its very warm, although perhaps a little bulkier that I like in the arms. I recommend shooting with an armguard, and practicing because on occasion the sleeve can get in the way. Of course this can happen with any clothing. The quality of the pullover is top notch, and I love it. Plan to get another on in ASAT with the liner. Along with my wool bibs ( cabelas) and the pullover over, I'm toasty warm.

I've had some fleece insulated, windstop bibs and a fleece with windstop vest for about 12 years.  Still going strong.  Very well made.  My stuff is in predator fall grey.

I sold all of my KOM and SI to buy my ASAT wool.  No regrets!  This is my first year in the ASAT and deer seem to look right through you.  I have the windblock wool with no insulation.  I have the pullover parka so that I have the full thru pocket in the front.  All of the pockets are large and in the right places.  It is tough wool too.  I spent most of my season hunting from a tree suit with my knees rubbing up against the tree.  No signs of wear at all.  All I need now are the same garments in cotton for early season wear.  JD

I didn't sell my KOM as it is heavier...But Day One is definitely a favorite.  I have both fleece and wool.  I never go out of state hunting without my wool pullover ASAT.  It is always strapped to my pack.  I agree with Joe in that some stuff runs small...Doc

I got the ASAT wool vest w/windblock, pullover and pants. Love them all. Wool vest was stolen and I replaced it with a fleece version. I found that layering wool over wool was a bit heavy and the friction made it tough to put on or take off the pullover, particularly when in the stand. Hunted today in a rain/snow storm and the wet never made it past the wool in 5 hours sitting in it. quality is great. Pocket design on the vest is very nice.

I picked up a parka off the local craigs list, fleece insulated with windstop in the older predator camo. It's moved right up to my favorite cold weather coat and never thought that would happen. Love this coat. Top notch contruction and you can tell the folks who make it hunt also!

The bucksuede is burr resistant and water resistant.  After a few years, the fabric lets in more and more water.  The bucksuede feels very cold when the temperature drops.  I prefer wool even in 50 degree weather.  I cannot really say great things about my clothes since the stitching came undone in a short time.

Saturday morning it was 15 degrees at my huntig camp. I put on a medium weight set of Smartwool longjohns, my DayOne wool bibs with windblocker, the wool pullover with windblocker and my fleece stocking cap.  I was good for the entire hunt.

I still have my SI wool, but I wear it now in moderate temps and go to the DayOne once it gets below 25.

I have an entire set (hat, pullover with high collar, vest and pants) in fleece. Very high quality and extremely quiet. I also have a suede or saddlecloth jacket. I have never worn the jacket but would trade it for more fleece as I love the quiet performance. ASAT is a great pattern too, I had 4 or 5 deer walk within 20 yards of me and either not notice me at all or when they did look at me, got the curious/confused look and just stared for several seconds. Not once did I have a close encounter where a deer spooked from me. I would recomend that if you buy the 1/4 zip high collared shirt, that you buy it one size larger than you need. I did and can wear the fleece as an outside layer for the camo even though it gets too cold for just fleece in Michigan. I love the high collar, best selling point besides camo to me.

Got my Dayone today and the wool insulated parka is very very warm. Even though a little bulky since i ordered it bigger it still is comfortable. Wore it today for a couple hours with nothing but a t shirt under it and it is 18 degrees windy out. Stayed warmer than ever. The Bucksuede pants came in too little don't match my pants size. Have to sell them !
