I've got some great info from the site already, have a good idea on what to do to tune. I have two bows I will be tuning for arrows and heads soon as I get all my supplies together.
My question - I will be starting with full length carbon shafts, do I glue the inserts in and if so what glue do I use, and are they easy to get out if I have to trim a couple times?
I've read where some are using the plastic wraps to cover food. Easy in-easy out. Hap
Unless you are using tapered shafts just pop the nock and trim from that end.
I glue mine in with a good epoxy after cleaning with denatured alcohol.
When I tune my carbons I use plastic saran or food wrap.I push in the insert with some saran wrap to hold the insert in snug and shoot and trim. But you need a softer target like a bag target,so it doesn't grab too tight to pull the insert back out.I like to use wraps on my carbons and tune them with the wraps already on so cutting from the nock end doesn't work for me.I get my carbons tuned without glueing in the inserts or use any heat on my carbons. The saran wrap method is quick and easy to tune with. After I'm done I then etch or scratch the inside of the shaft and insert and clean everything with alcohol and then epoxy them in with a 24 hr epoxy.
