Title: Dynamic Spine Calculator "NEW VERSION"
Post by: metsastaja on December 02, 2009, 09:31:00 AM
Stu has just released a new version of his Dynamic Spine Calculator with some additional bells and whistles.  I have been testing it using Mac Excel, Microsoft Excel and openoffice.org. All three are consistent.

Note:  There is one known issue related to using this calculator with "Open Office".  If the "0" center cut position is selected then the bow dynamic requirement will be shown as 5# too high.

You may download the calculator and instructions at

Good stuff, thank you!  It was very accurate for me on the wood and aluminum arrows, but on my Beman MFX Classic 500's it showed them very light spined compared to the results I'm getting.

Kenneth If time allows email Stu from the download page.  I am sure he would be interested in knowing if a particular arrow was not working. There may be an inaccurate number.  I know in the begining there was an error on one of the Carbon Express Heritage arrows due to rounding numbers.

I don't have excel or an equivalent program.  Are there any programs I can download to allow use of this?  Preferably virus free...

Google "Open Office".  It is a free package like Microsoft's "Office" package distributed world wide by Sun Microsystems.  Exceptional, and FREE!.  You need to be on a high speed connection, or you will never get the thing downloaded in your lifetime though.

There is a program called "Calc" in it that is just like Excel.

Just remember with Open Office and center cut at 0 there is a +5 error.. No one has been able to figure out why.  Just subtract 5

How do you measure distance off center? And what is a center cut bow? One that the riser plate is at zero, or one that the center of the nocked arrow is at zero?
