Was thinking about it and who would be on your Mount Rushmore of archery / bowhunting? Traditional only please.
Curious to see what others think....
I will start with the one and only Fred Bear. He would be in the George Washington placement IMO.
One down and three to go.
Howard Hill, Art Young, and Obama. The first two are obvious choices the third one came to me in a dream...although he does not currently shoot a bow...i think we should give it to him just like the Nobel Peace Prize...he "may in the future" shoot a bow and if so I'm sure he will deserve it...LOL
;)

Fred Bear, Paul Schafer, Glen St. Charles & Roger Rotharr.
Will & Maurice Thompson, Saxton Pope, Art Young, Howard Hill, Ben Pearson & Fred Bear
Dan Quillian, Saxton Pope, Art Young, Roger Rotharr.
Fed Bear, Howard Hill, Saxon Pope, Art Young & Ishi
Fred Bear, Glenn St. Charles, Art Young, Saxton Pope
Fred Bear,Art Young,Byron Ferguson.Howard Hill
I know this is all subjective but here is my list..
Earl Hoyt Jr., Pope, Young, Fred Bear.
OR-- ISHI, Pearson, Compton, Hill

Glen St. Charles needs his OWN monument for all he has done for this way of life...!!!
Earl Hoyt Jr, Fred Bear, Howard Hill, Byron Ferguson
Paul Schafer, Art young, Saxon pope, Fred Bear and G. Fred Asbell.
My brother Daryl, my other brother Daryl, my other brother Daryl, and my OTHER brother Daryl, in that order.
LMAO, Tatersalad. My four would be Pope, Young, Hill, Bear.
Tough to pick four, but I'll try.
Howard Hill, John Schulz, Fred Bear, Ben Pearson.
I'm surprised that Maurice Thompson, who literally fathered modern bowhunting in the USA is not mentioned. Without him, who knows what would have happened. As far as impact on archery, it would be Maurice Thompson, Pope, Young, and Howard Hill.
For modern bowhunting, Howard Hill, Fred Bear, Glenn St.Charles, Ben Pearson.
What george said.......and for real modern.... the Wensels, Fred Asbell, and T.J.Conrads...
Fred Bear, Glen St. Charles, Dean Torges, Gary Davis.
Pope,Young,Hill,Bear, and St.Charles(you didn't say to limit it to four choices).
Ishi, Fred Bear, Howard Hill, and.....hmmm....the last one is a tough decision but,.......I gotta say.....Byron Ferguson. Glenn St. Charles and G. Fred Asbell are certainly in the mix, though. As are Pope & Young, the Thompsons, and Ben Pearson.
How about...Terry Green, Ray Hammond, Biggie, and Vermonster.. Four noble, modern-day heroes to be sure. Much praise for everyone on this sight, and all they do.
Hillbilly
There really isn't a rock big enough to do justice to the archery greats who have come before us. Just like there isn't a rock big enough for all the banksters, the carbon taxing climategaters, and politicians to hide under. I like the idea that President Obama should shoot a trad bow, that would be the "change" we were promised.
Paul Schafer needs to be on there for sure.
fred bear -- pope/young --G Fred -- glenn st c.
Biggie, Smarty Marty, and the twins. Gotta find a bigger mountain.
To kinda make it closer to home, I would add one of my friends Ron Poole. He has won the pearson shoot about 20 times and the trad world pop up 3 of the last 4 years. Last year he took 2nd. He tought me to shoot trad and greatly refined my hunting skills. I would put his face up there.
I'm suprised nobody said Ishi
i'd have to pick ishi and the indians that started it all.
Tatersalad, That my friend was laugh out loud funny!!!

Uh, I mentioned Ishi as my first choice, just up a few posts from your last post.
Cavemen,Neanderthal's,and Indians they invented it and refined it so the rest could understand it!
And the fourth would be god for giving us something to hunt.
There are plenty of cavemen and Neanderthals in congress, so we don't need them. 8^). God's face is already on the mountains, and we have the Crazy Horse monument 8^).
some great choices here. I would pick , Saxon Pope, Howard Hill, Fred Bear, Ben Pearson.
Fred Bear, Howard Hill, Paul Schafer, Dale Dye

HAHAHa. I agree. seems reasonable
Fred Bear
Roy Case
and of course, my old man.
Best damn times of my life I had hunting with him.
Fred Bear, Glen St Charles, Howard Hill and Ishi
Job, Joshua, Uriah, and Daniel
All great choices. I would add Jay Massey. He has done more for trad bow hunting then most people realize.
Ishi;Young;Bear; One Wensel ( let them fight over which it is :) )
That is the chain of influence I see as best.
I think George S. hit the nail on the head lol.
Those picks are great and all guys but here's my Mt. Rushmore. Sorry Biggie you would have definitely been there but couldn't find a pic of you.

I think Teddy Rosevelt should be there too. Without him there'd be alot fewer places to hunt.
3 Playmates and me, I'm the one with the big ol smile.... :goldtooth: Sorry couldn't help myself.
Howard Hill, Fred Bear, Ben Pearson and Bob Lee.
