Hey Guys i am looking at a critter gitter so what aare your thoughts on them. From what i have heard they are great bows but thought i would run it by the experts first. Oh and if you have any pics please post them
Thank you!
Eric
I have been shooting Great Northern's for nearly 20 years. I started with a Critter Gitter and am shooting one now. It is a very forgiving bow, I think I have 4 or 5. You won't be disappointed.
Jack
I have owned all in there line with the exception to the traditional model. The Fireball was the bow that fit me the best followed by the Critter Gitter. I suggest giving them a call and test drive one. Great people and great bows. By the way, the Jackknife option is very nice.
I've had two Critter Gitters. Why I sold the first escapes me now. I won't make that mistake again with the second. I wasn't expecting the quality of craftsmanship when the second one came. I was overwhelmed. I had them make the second because I shot the first so well (for me anyway). Just seemed to fit me.
I'm happy.
I have one Im happy with just shoot my ferguson more because i think Im trying to tame the horse. The GN was tame the day I got it shoots where I look very fun bow.
For no particular reason, I prefer the Bushbow over the Critter Gitter...just like the wider, flatter limb with no tip overlays. Both shoot great, and are hunting quiet without any fuss.
No one does simple better than Great Northern.
on my second Fireball now, great bows!
I really liked the performance and quietness of my fireball. Only reason i switched to a hill is because I wanted a longer bow. Very good craftsmanship and Jerry is a hell of a guy.
I've always wanted to get a Ghost. Shot one once and it was smooooth. But all there bows are made for hunters - forgiving, flat-shooting and pointable.
I have a 62" Critter Gitter Jacknife. I have a 62" Bushbow Jacknife on order from Jerry. Top notch bows from the workmanship, performance and Jerry. You can't go wrong with a GN.
Can't go wrong with them, they are great bows.
Great bows- I like the fireball with Jacknife option, recently got a ghost with the jacknife all are great bows and fun to shoot.
Maxwell-
What's the folded size on the Ghost? I'm curious about what the total width of both folded limbs on the reurve would be. The Critter Gitters I have fold nearly flat.
David
All the GN line are fine bows....I like my Bushbow.
There are more bows in my basement than I can keep track of, including some very well known and good ones. When I hit the woods, I'm carrying my GN Critter Gitter.
The best line of bows available. Designed and built for the real world. I own three Bushbows and one Traditional. I shoot them all with great authority. I have learned that I shoot longer, narrow limbed bows (66" or so) and wider, shorter limbed bows (58"-62")the best. They are more stable and more forgiving. And I certainly shoot more mild R/D bows much better than more radical R/D bows, so these two GN bows make me so happy I could cry.
I have a 58" Ghost, and a 60" Super Ghost. Both are fantastic little bows, and I can shoot them better than any recurve i've ever owned. I wouldn't hesitate to order more!
Ken
I have just got a GN Critter Gitter jack knife Sp bow. And love it to bits.
I was shooting my Super Ghost this morning and am always amazed at how hard it hits. I also have the Traditional Longbow and have had a Fireball. All great bows from GREAT people.
Never had a Critter Getter but am watching the mail now for a new Bushbow :-)
Fine bows, I really favor the Critter Gitter.
GN = Real Longbow !!!! I love 64 and 66 inch Hickory because I shoot longer bows better 60 inch ghost recurve is the real deal too.
I have a 56" ghost that I shoot better than anything and will never sell, would love a bushbow or critter gitter with the jacknife option

Not sure what the total size is but Jerry told me the Ghost folds up smaller than the Fireball because the curves fit inside each other and they don't on the Fireball.
I just got my new Jack Knife Bushbow from Jerry and couldn't be happier. There's a post up on it with some pics. Great bow. I've owned Critter Gitters in the past and have two Ghosts now. Wonderful bows. Jerry does excellent work.

DITTO!
I love my SUPER GHOST.
Would like to try others of theirs.
Tim
The Ghost is the greatest recurve I've ever shot. I've had three of them!
Have had a couple of Critter Gitters and several Ghosts. Sold the first Critter Gitter because it became too heavy for me as I got older. Sold the second because I was stupid. Sure wish I had that bow back. Shedua riser, bamboo core. Smooth as silk. It's somewhere in France right now. Bummer.
After buying and selling lots of bows over the last 8 years or so; I happened upon a 66" Critter Gitter jack-knife and bought it on a whim last summer ..Well, it's turned out to be the funnest, most function bow I've ever owned. I love it and will be shooting it down to splinters!
I've now have a Fireball and the CGS both jack knife and they are the best bows I have shot. NOT FOR SALE.
I like the critter Gitter alot!He now offers it in longer lengths than he used to.Jerry told me he can make them up to 70 inches now.
I test shot a 66 incher this summer and it shot superbly.dead quiet and very stable. It had bamboo limbs and green glass.
I had a 64 incher that was a jacknife that shot excellant.broomstick handle.I prefer the locator though.
I also have had 3 superghosts and one bushbow.
Their all well designed, tough and shoot good all around!
I would seriously consider the Critter gitter in a deep cored mild R and D style bow.Hard to beat.Hickory or Bamboo limbs.
If I were in the market for a longbow it would be hands down the Critter Gitter.
I have a Fireball--and a Superghost and am very happy with both. When I sell some stuff I am going to get myself another Great Northern I just don't know which model yet.
Been getting acquainted with a jackknifed bushbow for the last couple of months that Paradocs was kind enough to sell me. Well, let me tell you, in my mind it defines the word longbow to a tee. The boys at Great Northern sure put together a top shelf product.Their takedown system is the best I've seen.
Now my only problem is ,do I use the Bushbow or the Kwyk-Styk on next week Elk hunt.
Life is tough! Take care Mo.
You best send me a pic if your Bushbow makes meat, Mo....I live vicariously through my old bows
I have a 60" Ghost in all osage and LOVE it...so much in fact I'm trying to determine what wood for my second one. After that, it'll be a Bushbow...I shot that one up at Jerry's shop and loved it too!
Jerry is a talented bowyer and a heck of a nice guy!
The Critter-Gitter is an excellent bow. I've looked over the Great Northern bows for years and the quality and design have always been awesome. You can't go wrong with a Great Northern Bow! todd
You can't go wrong with a Great Northern. I had a bushbow that I really liked. I probably wouldn't have ever sold it if it had a locator grip. I have shot a few of their other models also and they were all good shooters.
The quality of a Great Northern is undeniable.
The really difficult decision in regards to a Great Northern is which model to choose.
I was/am a dyed in the wool recurve shooter, but always had a "thing" for a Bushbow. There was something about the ad on the back of Traditional bowhunter. I finally got one this past summer.
The folks at Great Northerm/Great Northern Quivers are true ambassadors to the lifestyle of Traditional Bowhunting. You simply can`t go wrong.
I've shot, owned, sold and traded a bunch of bows over the years. About 1.5 years ago bought a used Critter Gitter w/ jackknife on a whim...Wow, it is my go to bow for the long haul now, it just works for me..I've got a broom handle Ghost with jacknife on my wish list.
I have owned two Bushbows, still have one that will NEVER leave my grippers! I also owned a Ghost. The Bushbows are second to none, including other GN models...in my opinion. The Ghost was an awesome power house, but loud as ever, in my opinion. I will always have a GN or two laying around. Once you own one it wont leave your thoughts. The Bushbow is quietly strong for a small framed bow, very deceiving.
