Title: Maddog trad archery
Post by: inthere10x on November 25, 2009, 05:30:00 PM
My son decided he was over bowed and he very first bow was to light. He said would like shooting more often and longer but tired quickly. Has expressed an interested in bow hunting next year but wants to shoot more to improve. He decided to drop ten pounds in draw weight.
We looked around on the web and he decided on a midsize longbow from Maddog archery. Mike of Maddog archery was a great help and answered all his questions. He was great to deal with and placing the order was a smooth transaction. I highly recommend Maddog archery if your thinking of ordering a bow and have questions.
My son decided on a Dakota Dymond wood riser and black glass, 36# @ 28".
We'll post pictures we it arrives.

I can say he is one of the most pleasant folks to talk with over the phone. He sure sounds like he knows his stuff too! I hope someday to have a Mad-dog Mutt bow.

Ordered a bow a few months ago for one of my younguns and it should be here any day now.
Mike is A1 to deal with and answered alot of my questions not even pertaining to the bow I ordered. I'm ordering one after the first of the year for myself.
Hats off to Mike, A fine gentleman indeed!

Nothing but good things to say about Mike.  My son broke his pup recurve after 2 years of use.  I called Mike, asked how/if the bow could be fixed.  He said send it back and he will see what can be done.  Fast forward 3 weeks, and a new bow arrived at our door.  He would not take any money for the bow or shipping.....  It does not get any better than that.......

Got the the pup longbow I ordered from Mike about a week ago.
Awsome! My girl is gonna love it. Super fine customer service. A-1 transaction.
I think Mike would sit and talk bow building all day long if he had time.
Thanks Mike!

I too have plans on having one of those Mutts on a leash in the future. I called Mike out of the blue one day just to talk. It was truly my pleasure. I was looking at the "Hero" pictures on his site and saw a man that didn't live too far away. Eddie was nice enough to agree to meet me at a local archery shop between us. Well as fate would have it Eddies Uncle passed and he couldn't make it. I still look forward to meeting him. Anyway he made a trip to the shop and left his recurve for me to shoot. How awesome is that? I'm not a real recurve man when it comes to hunting but I love shooting bows and I mean any kind of bow. I own several different styles of bows and when I'm shooting target I will shoot whatever the mood says. Back to the story. I strung up this nice looking and well made recurve. It wasn't what I'd call fancy but it had workmanship in it. The brace height was WAYYYY low on the bow so I twisted it up a little, just enough to keep the fletches off of the rest. I might have done more but the string was about twisted up. This wasn't the right string for this bow as it turns out. Anyway not having any arrows there of my own I just picked up two that belonged to another friend he had left laying around there. After checking them out for problems and finding none I made the decision that they'd work for what I wanted to accomplish. I dropped the string twice in the indoor range. Nope! I didn't hit the X-ring but just outside it at 20 yards.I pulled the arrows and my next two shots were at the small 3D bobcat at 20 yds, both were in the 10 ring kill zone. I was impressed. I knew right then I was gonna invest in a bow from Maddog someday.
God bless,Mudd
