I know ive seen some guys do it so today i was out shooting my martin rebel and I had some arrows with vanes on them. They shot almost identical to my feathers.
you gotta be doing something right! / feathers have worked best for me / but shoot what works best for you is way to do it !
I Shoot vanes from my recurve bows , use 4-41/2 shield cut Marco vanes with the small para Rests. Fly great and no weather problems! (http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x132/recurvehunter_2007/P1010904.jpg)
Hi, PJ. Good luck on your day hunts. Looking forward to thepics.
Bisch
Thanks Bisch, i need all the luck i can get brother.
I found that vanes build up a memory and are not as forgiving off the shelf as feathers are.my opinion only.
I have had good luck shooting vanes right off the shelf of my Mikuta longbow. They were cheap Game Getter aluminiums without the uni-nocks and were fletched for cock vane down(for the forked rests on wheely bows)
I put the cock vane up and they flew GREAT!!!!!
I saw a video, Masters of the Barebow maybe, Fred Echlier shot vanes cock feather in and got good arrow flite. He said he kept one in the quiver in case he got rained on.I gave it a try and in seemed to work fine.
I shoot three four inch off a flipper rest on my Titan. Cock out you can spray foot powder on them to check your clearance, if the touch at all it will show.
