Im new to trad archery and i have 3,000 acrs of private land to hunt plus a great 2 story cabin with central heat and air, fire place, shower and cable TV.lol
We only have 7 members in our club and only 4 of us hunt often. I would like to find someone who would like to go chase some of our big bucks and tons of does and just have a good time.
I live close to the airport so if you fly in i can pick you up no problem. It wouldnt cost much at all i already have some meat in the freezer so we wouldnt need much at all.
Im the only trad hunter in the bunch so it would be nice to share a camp with someone who is as passionate about trad bows as i am.
If you are interested let me know and lets plan a hunt. Anytime after wed. afternoon and through the weekend is good for me so just let me know if someone would like to go with me.
Im very easy going and i hunt hard when im in the woods. Plus i make a killer deer chilly and deer stew.

DAMM!!! I wish I Lived Further......well, MUCH Further South of where I am NOW!!
Yea me to.. Right there with you shakes.
What a great offer for some stick slinger. Good on ya Joe :)
Wow. nice offer. Wish I had the time available. Would love to take you up on that offer.
Sounds like a great weekend in the making.
ChuckC
Very generous of you to offer that. Too bad I live in MD and money's tight.
DANG! What's an out-of-state license cost? Can you PM me? If it's not too much and the flights aren't outrageous I might just take you up on that. I could use a vacation in the BIGGEST way possible.
Mighty fine offer of yours Joe.
Me and Randy Jackson are going after those biggins guys, wish us luck.
Joe, if the offer is good also for next year I'll fly staight from Italy with my luggages for most of the hunting season.I bring excellent wines, oil and I'll cook too.LOL Felix
Man, I'll show up when Felix is there! (though we'll have to arm wrestle over who has the better wine! LOL!)
With all the respect I can say you have better hunting.Damn I was in Santa Rosa by the end of August but not time to look for you, next time.
By all means my Italian friend! We'll share some local salame gentile, a fine red, and I'll send you home with some wild boar pancetta. Life is good with the right cured meat, raw cheese, stiff loaf of bread, great wine and a sunset. Throw in some venison or boar roast and you have to pinch yourself to see if your dreaming or not.
Dang! I just ate a PB&J for lunch, clicked on this thread to see how many thousands answered what I thought a retorical(sp)question and my first instinct was to call Joevan and make arrangements until I remembered my 3rd. buck for the season put my van in the bodyshop, then you dudes start talking hunting, cured meats and wine. I think I may go to CALI or Italy or meet you two in AL. just so I can be the "Impartial" judge. When I'm not chasing the BIGGINS around that is.
That is a cool offer Joe. if only I had my wheels...
Chuck
You lot are making me hungry! LOL
REMEMBER:all Tradgangers are welcome in my home, fully outfitted for free.Felix
cacciatore look me up next year and i will take you on a great hunt my friend.
im only 5 hours from your joe in south carolina, what is an out of state license cost theree?
I am self-employed and may be moving back to N. GA within the next year. Would love to plan some time next year Joe.
Thanks and Regards,
Barry
Cacciatore, I have a cabin and some nice ground (971 acres) in Indiana with some pretty good whitetails. If you are in the states and want to make a hunt, give me a PM.
Not sure what part of Italy you're in, but my wife and I love Italy. Rome is a noisy dirty city, but we really liked visiting there, Venice, Pisa, Malta, etc..
JoeVan, wonderful gesture on your part! Great example to all of us.
JoeVan, wonderful gesture on your part! Great example to all of us.
Beef jerky a cup of coffee or a bowl of pasta and some wine I just want to know who is gonna go hunting with the man!!! I feel like Im reading Rachel Ray's diary
Next year im going to lease some land and make it a trad only piece of property. Im just not interested in rifle hunting anymore and i have already talked to someone today who is in with me.
The land where i hunt is full of deer and to have it to be trad only would be a blast. Also we can legally kill over 100 deer a year down here so the action would be incredible without those rifles going off everyday.
More to come about all this i promise you that much. Just imagine 1,500 acrs and around 6 trad only hunters, man what a great hunt that would be.
Unbeliveble,so many deer and not pressure, what a dream.Joe you have taken that traditional bug very bad.Felix
Joe, we will have a blast!!!Can't wait to get it done.Nice chat this morning.Randy J.
If you get another weekend "open" down there let me know, also interested in the lease deal, left you a mssg.
Joe,
I usually hunt every year in Blount County, just off I65 near Hayden. Always looking for more property to hunt in the area. Send me the details on the lease and perhaps I'll be able to go in on it with you. :campfire:
Unfortunately I probably won't make it up this year due to medical issues with my father and mother-in-law. But if I do make it I'll PM you before coming and maybe we can get together. :archer:
Good Luck with the Biggins,
Hal
I'm suprised that this thread aint just swamped with takers, wow, hhhhhmmmm, it aint that far.
Almost to good to belive, only thing to make it better would be 70 virgins to cater to you.
whats the catch here???? Am I missing something?
No catch at all as a matter of fact i just got off the phone with Randy Jackson and he will be hunting with me this trip.
Randy lives in huntsville and is getting ready to make the drive to the cabin where we stay.
Wish us luck.
Good luck guys, take some big ones and come back with trophies and pics.LOL
Great offer Joe. Must just be that times are tight for everyone. I'm saving $$ for a big 2010 trip, otherwise I'd be down to join ya'.
Somebody go hunt with the man. I've had a few phone conversations with Joe and I would pretty much say that theres no "catch", he's just an enthusiastic trad guy, and loves his vintage bows.
Looks like an out of state license is $275 for a year, $170 for a 10 day, and $120 for a 3 day.
Joe, if you're making one, put me on the short list for 2011. Maybe Rich, Bill, and I can make the trip. Sure would be nice to talk about it, been meaning to give you a call anyway.
Jim
By the time you make it down here im going to have a all trad hunting club. I have already talked to 3 people who are going to get with me after the season and we will make it happen.
With this economy theres land for lease everywhere down around where i hunt. Just think 6 or 7 guys with 1,500 acrs of trad only land. How much fun do you think that would be.
The key is i know a lot of people where i hunt and one guy is always finding me land to lease but with this economy we can only lease so much. We got lucky on one piece of property that is 1,000 acrs and leased it for 5 dollars a acr. Most of the land we have been hunting has been over 10 dollars a acr but it is prime deer land.
I know where there is 1,100 acrs that is pretty high but man it has some huge bucks on it and it also comes with a great 3 bedroom house with a barn. Im going to check on that piece of property only because i know what kind of deer it has on it.
Joe I've deer hunting for 40 years and have been buildins and hunting with selfbows for 20 years. With 33 bucks and 7 spring gobblers to my creit with my selfbows.I all ready have this year planded. And I love big whitetails and also hunt hard. But next fall I might be able to sqeezzzz in a couble weeks if the offer is still open. You might count me in.Is this and offer to just come and hunt or can I join you club. Both would be fine PM or Email me with more details.Sounds great.
Roy
I will get back with you im headed to work YUCK.
I lost two of my small spots this year, a total of 45ac. This sounds awesome. Winters coming, the south is sounding pretty good right now.
P.S.
GOOD LUCK This weekend.
Joe im gonna give you a call next week about when i can come down. I am also interested in the lease idea since im fairly close to you. Pj
All tradditional lease sounds great.I'll call ya. McDonough Ga. is not far away.
WOW! Sounds great. Good luck boys.
Joe, Do you have a sister? :~)
Dang Joe, sounds like a good trip!
I hunted east central AL once with a guy from work who grew up in Dothan. He and his family belonged to a club around Uchee (I think that was how it was spelled). It was an awesome hunt even though I didn't get a deer. I had two bobcats come under my stand to about 10 yards!
When is the rut in your part of AL? Where we were it was in January and February. I remember thinking how odd it seemed and then to see scrapes in that sandy soil just didn't look right but that is one of the great things about going somewhere else to hunt. It's different yet the same if you know what I mean. Their lease was paper company land and a lot of it was different stages of pine growth but they had some good hardwood bottoms with a lot of white oaks. Lots of sweet gum trees too which were their preferred tree for climbing stands. Looked like a telephone pole with branches coming out the top.
The whole time I was there I was "Damn Yankee" but it was all in fun. I did learn to stay away from their "Ancient Age" bourbon whiskey or as they said, "The best danged cheap whiskey money can buy".
Will be contacting you. Live in Louisiana.
Thats not that far away!!!!
Ken
Joe sent you a pm...thanks,Barry
hey joe , i live in pinson about 20 minutes north of the airport, i would love to get into an all trad club ,i also have 2 older brothers that shoot traditonal with me ,if you need any help let me know how much dues are gonna run.
It sounds like a fine offer and I hope others get the chance. If you are looking for a trad shoot, you might think about Cloverdale, IN in June. Great chance to meet lots of trad archers. Maybe you could hitch a ride with some of the Southern vendors that come.
