Hello bowhunters,
as you maybe know, sadly bowhunting ist not allowed in germany.
So I want to get some informations about the best way for a couple of german trad.archers (recurve shooters), to make some first experiences with a hog hunt.
Please remember that we have no hunting experiences, not so much time (2 weeks) and we are no millionaires :)
matter of particular interest: where to go, equipment, what season, the nearly costs.
Hope my english is understandable, sorry for spelling errors.
kind regards
7th Age Bowhunting - Sponsor here - Curtis - Littlefeather is your man if you want hogs and lots of good teaching!

Deine English ist besser aus mein Duetsch. 7th Age gets my vote as well.
For Texas Hogs... 7th age
For South Carolina / Georgia hogs... Ray
I know that not far from Germany there are many country that aloud bow hunting for cheap. If you are interested send me a PM.Felix
Why don't they allow bowhunting in Germany? Just thought I would ask.
Anyway, I read somewhere that the country of TURKEY has the BIGGEST HOGS to be found. Maybe something like that is an option.
What about Austria or one of the former Soviet Republics? Surely it would be less expensive to go there than in would be to come here and hunt. Not saying we wouldn't want you, I'd love to see you come here and hunt....and STAY! We need all the decent, bow hunting immigrants we can get our hands on..... ;)
Speaking of coming here to hunt, Florida would have to be right up near the top in the affordability category of hog hunting. You can come here and hunt hogs for probably $200. If you nose around a bit I'm sure it wouldn't be that difficult to find a Trad Gang member or a member from another bow hunting forum that would take you pig hunting every day for NOTHING here in Florida. On PRIVATE LAND you DON'T NEED a LICENSE and there are NO BAG LIMITS OR SEASONS!! All you'd have to do is get a plane to Miami and you could hunt pigs until you got tired of it and then go back home. Hopefully with a LOT of great memories, pictures and some fresh pork in your belly.
That's the way I'd go if I were you. Or maybe TEXAS or Georgia.
Good Luck in your search and hope you make it to our country soon.

I'd love to try and help. I've got miles and miles of ranches and lots of hogs and javelina. You'll get shots and I'll try and teach you as you go. Shoot me an email if I can help. Curtis

I would vote for getting a guide of some sort. it will greatly increase your chance for success. I would not think twice about getting on with Curtis at 7Age bowhunting or Ray Hammond at Rays Outfitting and cutlery. You can find them both in the "Sponsor Classifieds" up top. It will be a great experience for you to get some help and guidence from a "Pro" that hunts hogs for a living.
Good luck.
Chuck
I have two fellows coming this fall from Norway to Hog Heaven.

What Ray Said.. :readit:
Wow, quite some german speakers here!
Ihr seid eine tolle Gemeinschaft!
now if you can read this, its meant for you.
I am interested in that topic, too. Though i must admit i never really considered the US, i would rather to Australia, wich is definetly not meant as an offense! I just happen to be more pulled towards down under, but when i see al you guys here on tradgang, well should think about it again.
We have a crazy partnership?
You got that right :bigsmyl: :biglaugh:
What kind of license do we need?
I have heard about a "hunters safety course", a "hunters license" etc.
a three or seven day non resident...the three day costs 40 dollars US- about 17 Euros.
If you were born prior to 1979 you must have the International Bowhunter Education certification..which is course that may be taken on line now as I understand.
If born prior to that, you're good to go.
All you need is your passport.
WOW! Thanks for all that answers!
@Rbow, we are in a devilish good company here on Tradgang.
@Ray Hammond: Am I right in thinking, that when I was born in 1969, so I just need my passport? That would be great.
Tanks for all the offers!
kind regards
tj
