Title: Treestand name?????
Post by: danseitz on November 21, 2009, 05:06:00 PM
Saw a treestand that is a foldup ladder stand that you carry on your back. Can't think of the name of it. It costs about $100. Anyone know the name or website?

I don't think that's it. It looked like a folded wooden ladder.

The travelstarr by northstarr is the only fold up stand i've seen that looks like a ladder folded up.  Each section is hinged.  All the other ones i've seen come apart in 20 inch sections.  The two listed above sale for about $100 but only the one by northstarr folds up.  Let us know if you find the one you are talking about.

I saw a commercial for this stand on either Babe Winkleman or Buck McNeely.  I think it was Babe.  I honestly looked like a fold up wooden ladder that a guy was carrying on his back. It is not one of those mentioned above.

was it aluminum? if so maybe it was this one:

the one above is made by BBK Hunting Systems and its sold by some of the bigger outfitters.  I have no experience w/ that one but do have some experience w/ BBK in general which is headquartered here in SA.  I spoke w/ BBK earlier today in regard to a different treestand and they have almost no inventory right now.  One thing I like about BBK is that they sell huge lots almost exclusively to the big outfitters but you can still walk in there, b.s. with the owner Albert (he shot trad for awhile, dunno if he still does) and he will sell to you individually.

Good luck

Also is northstarr still in business? I thought they went under? If they're still around that would be great b/c I'd love to get my hands on a Northstarr Superstar model #400.

My favorite stand is a Loc-on 12' aluminum ladder stand that I've been using for about 22 years. I haven't seen one advertised in a long time, so I'm not sure they're still available. It is tubular, breaks down into 4 sections, and weighs only 20#. I bought mine in '87, when they first hit the market. The next year they were made with a brace that mine doesn't have. It bends a good bit with a heavy person on it, and the seat is kind of small, but a couple of my buddies that weigh over 200# have used it.
