Just curious if anyone did something for any landowners who let them hunt their land?
I have two farms I hunt and I try to get them both turkeys every year. Always seem to be on sale somewhere and I can say from years of experience that they really appreciate it.
Just a little something to let them know I am thankful they let me hunt.
Anyone else doing anything???
I give the farmer who lets me hunt a turkey or ham whichever he likes.
Tracy and I always do something for the land owners that allow us to hunt. Some of them like deer meat but dont hunt,so we give them a deer every year.We have them processed for them so it looks like meat they are use to getting.Others will get a gift of some sort. Some get help with chores like cutting wood or hey work something along those lines.

Always! This year, I think I am giving gift cards to Red Lobster as a way of offering some variety in the midst of traditional holiday fare.

I buy stogies for the landowner and pass on some butchered venison..... he loves it!
His son-in-law gets firewood or any other labor I can offer to help the family farm.
More than anything, I think they like knowing someone is keeping an eye on the hidden parts of their land especially when they are not there.
Set them both up with bows and have been giving some shooting lessons. Shared some venison. Also let them know about some folks doing some things on the property that they didn't know about and they ended up giving me a present for that. Go figure.
My wife makes a home made cherry pie for farmer and his wife, and cupcakes for the farmers mother.
We smoke a ham for them every year.
I give my landowners a butchered deer and invite them to my home several times a year. They are also close faily friends!
I have made antler pen and pencil for husband and wife. Duck and Goose calls, and lathe turned bowls.

i have no problem with giving money !
i hunt or am invited to hunt on over 500 acres on different places . all land owners get fruit baskets /money /turkey ----- something that says TY in big way / one old guy just ask me to visit his wife in nursing home ------- i make reg visits to her / we(bowhunters) need to do all we can to work with help out the land owners , what ever that takes
I'm goina send something to the State of Alaska, the U. S. Forest Service, and BLM in Oregon, lol....
I always give them something venison, country ham, whatever I can come up with. This even extends for me to helping with what I call landowner chores. I will cut grass and firewood mend fences. I feel like it is the least I can do.
Absolutely. At Christmas time I give them all something that BOTH the husband and wife will appreciate. Remember, the farmer may have given you permission to hunt but his wife can get you kicked off! Seriously, I give them a non-hunting related gift, we've been giving a nice high end gift basket the last several years. A hundred bucks or so per landowner is cheap, IMO, for access to thier land. We're thinking of homemade cookies with some stuff from the Amish food store included this year. I always show up at my landowners dressed nicely (no camo) and work hard to maintain a good image - no buck skull stickers on my truck, no bloody deer pictures etc etc. It's worked very well for me as far as access - and exclusive access - goes. This year my primary landowner called me to ask if I cared if a coworker of his took his 13 yr old daughter on the farm 1st weekend of gun season to hunt. He was apologetic and assured me it would be her only and no one else hunting....I was floored, a landowner asking ME if someone can hunt his land. Wonderful the relationships that 10yrs of respect can build.

For Christmas I give a Whole beef tenderloin and a Large slab of Sockeye salmon. The family has it for Christmas dinner and they REALLY look forward to it. Believe me for 100 bucks it is worth it. BILL
We give a $50.00 gift card to Home Depot or Lowes. They are so thankful.
Usually have a deer cut and wrapped for the farmer and family...Sometimes have to buy them a turkey when the deer don't cooperate..Mike
We gave everyone a Carhart jacket with a whitetail stitched on the breast and their names stitched as well. They really like them. Used them for dress when new, then for work coats on the ranch afterwards. They are still using them.
This year we had blanket/pillows made and quilted. You can use them as pillows in a vehicle of on the couch. If it gets cool, just unfold them and you have a blanket.
i used to have permission on a nice piece of land in ny. i was 18 years old and didnt know enough to do somthing for the landowner.. :readit:

You guys have given me some super ideas.
Looks like I might have to step my game up a bit. Thanks so much for sharing.
I agree with others that you need to keep in mind the whole family and not just the man of the house.
i didnt know anyone allowed ppl to hunt for free any more, i grew up in texas and free hunts are like winning the lottery
One year I gave a landowner the biggest turkey I have ever shot (25 lbs), cleaned of course. Another landowner was a big supporter and fan of the local college near where he lived and I bought him a baseball jersey from that school. It was probably $50 and something he would not buy for himself. Went over pretty well.
