I went out for only the second time this season wednesday morning here in Oklahoma with my new Talltines recurve and made a great shot on a nice buck. I haven't had much time to hunt this year because of school and work but good scouting from years past helped me out alot. I hadn't seen anything bigger than this buck and had passed up a few younger bucks, so when he came through traveling crosswind like most bucks do when cruezing for a hot doe, I took the shot at 19 yards. I thank my Great God for the chance to harvest one of His most wonderful creatures
I toted my TallTines: 70lbs @29", GT shafts with brass adapters and weighted 160 Gr snuffers for a total arrow weight of 650gr.
The buck only went about 50 yards and then piled up within sight. I aged him from the teeth at 3.5 yrs but he could easily be 2.5yrs. I am going to send in a tooth for a more exact age. He dressed out at 176lbs. which is huge for Oklahoma, making for a long hard drag out of the woods.
Full story in the harvest thread in a few days, gotta buckle down and study for my state medical board tests next week.
