Title: New Miller longbow w/pics ....
Post by: Ben Maher on November 19, 2009, 08:38:00 PM
Came home last night to find a tube awaitin !!!
Dave's Ol' Tom string follow 66" 52# @ 27" is a beautifully built bow . it is more than i could have hoped for .
I had Dave use yew lams instead of 'boo as i had seen previously on some Schulz bows , and coupled with a nice myrtle riser and brown glass it delivers in the looks dept . great finish and fit . its light in the hand and with a dacron string quiet as a church mouse stealing the bread .
in my back yard at 15 yards  it flings my cedars with quiet authority and accuracy .
Dave was as good as his word on build time and costing . an absolute pleasure to deal with !!!
I have been shooting Hill style bows for a long time and this new addition is an absolute pleasure in every respect ... quiet, no noticeable handshock , great great build quality.

Ben, that right there is a beauty buddy!    Looks just like my Shultz "The Favorite" except your riser has a lot more character. David does build a fine bow, and yours is one gorgeous example - ENJOY!

No Ben, I had to let the Belcher go. I got into a bind financially and was the least attached to that one. She was a good shooter, and a looker too! I'll own another one day for sure. Love your bow mate! I have a 68" bamboo "Old Tom" myself that's everything you said about yours. It's a little long for my draw but smooth as silk! I wish you many fine days afield with her!

Love the myrtle riser, just beautiful. One thing though, I see the arrow rest is on the wrong side of the riser :-(

Enjoy! I love mine.

God bless,

José

Sure you don't want to part with "favorite"?  That bow is cool looking.  David should be calling me the first week of Dec. to finalize my new bow order.  I am sure looking forward to getting that call.

Longbows & Short Shots,

Jeff

Sorry Jeff, I couldn't stand parting with it if I wanted to bud! Now it's like going shooting with an old friend. Ben's is right there with it though, so you can have David make you another.    All the best bud!

Ben I just can't help coming back and looking at that bow - super choice mate! Those critters are in big trouble!

Ken , i'm really happy with how she shoots . she's very gentle in the hand and throws an arrow fast enough for me . it seems really easy to dail in with this bow ...
also , the yew against the myrtle looks great .
she goes out after bunnies and foxes tomorrow . i've loaded a bcak quiver full of woodies and i'm ready to go ... any luck and i'll post some pics for you monday with my rabbit stew .

Which of the Hill Style bows do you guys favor the most?  I am referring to Howard Hill archery, David Miller, and Belcher.  Or is there a few others?  I am looking to get a Miller.  I have been drooling over the Split Bamboo for over a year now.

Ben, did you get the gloss or satin finish? Can't really tell from the pic. Once again it looks awesome!

Doesn't matter either way, it's still a beauty! I was just curious because since seeing yours i'm seriously thinking of sending my Shultz to David and have him make me another so I don't have to shoot it all the time and save a little wear and tear. The gloss is nice and here in the woods I don't think it matters much.
