I don't post much on here. Mostly read. I've noticed a couple guys that are from Middletown and Hagerstown that post on here. I'm right over South Mountain in Boonsboro.
Reason I post this is. I'd like to get to know a couple seasoned Trad guys to possibly get together with to shoot in the future. I'd like someone that really knows what they are doing to help me improve my shooting. I'm not a beginner, but could stand some improvement (Alot of improvement to be honest)
I retired from the Navy about 3 yrs ago and got back into bow hunting. When I did I went with a longbow instead of a compound.
Anyhow, I'd appreciate an e-mail or a pm if you are so inclined. I'd like some mentoring.
Hello Chris, scroll down in the states section and click on MD to see the info on the Traditional Bowhunters of MD link. We are a traditonal only club located all over the state. There are a handful of folks that live out that way. Also check out MD Bowhunters Society. They are not trad only, but a bunch of us there also shoot sticks and strings. Heres a couple links that might help.

We would love to have ya aboard!
Welcome!!!!
Always like seeing another MD shoter on TG.
I have been shooting trad only for 2+ years. Hardly would qualify as a "teacher" but would love to get together to shoot some. I have just a few targets here at the house.
When I started I found that the books by G. Fred Asbell helped me quite a bit. things really clicked for me when I swithed from right to left handed shooting (I am left eye dominant but had been shooting RH my whole life)
Once making the switch the whole "instinctive shooting" thing made sense.
I just started a new job so time is tight but shoot me a PM or an email.
Good luck all around!
PS: I won't hold that whole Boonsboro thing against you LOL!!!!
jcar,
Appreciate the response. (One thing I can tell about this site is how nice folks are on here) I've read Mr. Asbell's books and Mr. Furguson's and some others and found them imformative. I'm old school. Watch me shoot..."you're doing this wrong, that right, not following though that time...etc" My point is. I learn from hands on experience and think it'd be nice to shoot with someone who know's. or at least has a good idea..;-) I know some of the best archers still struggle at times. My problem is being consistent.
I drive through Middletown every day going to and from work. (40 Alt)
Appreciate the warm welcome and responses to all. Thanks.
Chris,
I sent you an e-mail.
Kyle
Chris, there are a ton of us just east of you in Carroll county. jcar is about as close to you as anyone I can think of, and you would be hard pressed to find a more genuine and enthusiastic friend to find. (Congratulations John[jcar] on the job bye the way, know you've been looking)
If you ever venture over this way (only about an hour's ride) check out "Heart of MD Bowhunters". They have some great shoots, and there is a LARGE contingent of Trad guys there.
Hi Chris.I work at the fish hatchery right up Rt 66 from Boonesboro, and live about 40 minutes west of that in Needmore. Maybe we could get together sometime for a little shooting. Give me a shout whenever you want and we'll try to work something out.
Hey....GO BOONSBORO....Chris you got a pm buddy...
Chris,
I live in mercersburg PA and work in Hagerstown. Drop me a line and we can get together sometime. I'm no expert but it's always fun to meet other tradgangers and I should be able to give you a little help on your shooting.
