Title: Lowering Draw weight on Bob Lee Limbs
Post by: Todd Fulton on November 17, 2009, 09:15:00 PM
Gents,
I got a bow from a buddy and the draw weight is a little heavier than I'd prefer.  Have any of you ever sent limbs in and had them sanded to reduce draw weight?  They said they can potentially reduce them up to 4 pounds.
Thanks,
Todd

I had a take down recurve that was too heavy for me.  I had Ted at Raptor Archery sand down the limbs, he dropped the weight down 10 lbs for me.  Don't know if you can go that much with yours or not but you might want to give him a call ( he is a sponser here).

Check out Whip at Prairie Traditions (sponsor) too. He has taken over the bow hospital from Belcher Bows (sponsor).

Go to the original bowyer if you can.  He has records of that bow and others don't.  We had a bow that we had to chase weight and tiller on that a later owner wanted reduced.  When he contacted us, I looked it up and told him it didn't have any more weight in it.

He went elsewhere and had it taken down 8 pounds. The bow was ruined.

Be careful and always talk to the bowyer that made it.
