After post a blank with the stick and string last year I finally managed to connect on a small buck today. I happened to see him stand up from his bed and walk up and down a small streamabout 80 yards in front of me. At this point I thought he was a lone doe, which struck me as kind of odd because right now you don't see many does without a buck pushing them. as he came in closer I seen that he was actually a button buck and decided that if he presented a shot that I would take him. he came around to my left to about five yards. I let loose of the arrow and was about an inch high. Normally not a big deal but I decided to hunt in my tree stand instead of on the ground today so my arrow hit him right in the spine and dropped him like a rock. Realizing where the arrow had hit I quickly sent another arrow through the lungs to end it. :bigsmyl: As I aproached the small buck I realized that he wasn't a button buck cut what looked to be a spike that had broken off both antlers, one flush at the base and the other about an inch above the base. When I got down to retrieve my prize I heard something russel the leaves coming down the hollow I'm hunting. I looked up to see a mature doe and a yearling coming. my bow was still at the base of the tree my stand is in so I couldn't take either one, so to avoid spooking them I laid down and covered my face. They came right up to me and almost stepped on me as they passed. They were close enough to touch and they had no idea I was there.
