Title: Making arrows?

I am 16 and i am making a boardbow out of red oak in shop class. I am also wanting to make arrows how do i do this? What kind of wood do i use?

Are you wanting to make arrows from dowels?  Or are you wanting to make them from scratch?  Either way you will get lots of advise here.  Making arrows is more fun than making the bow I think.

Ramin would be my first choice, if you can find it.  I may well have some depending on the spine you need.  Other good arrows woods include PO Cedar, Douglas Fir and Ash.

you can make serviceable arrows using only ...

* wood arrow shafts
* plastic nocks
* field points
* feathers (of the same wing, precut or full length)
* clear shaft finish (min-wax wipe on polyu)
* hot melt glue or epoxy
* fletching glue (duco)
* fletching jig (or just pins to hold down the feathers)
