Well.......
This is the same buck that was standing outside the back window Sunday morning as we were headed off to church.
At 11:00 am on the 9th I was about a mile deep in the woods. Stupid me....I should stayed at the house. :banghead:

too bad you weren't by the camera
Keep after him! He's a real dandy!
I walk a 1/2 mile in, come back and have deer 25 yards from my truck!! just my luck, Jason
The buck is a good one.Did you notice the growth forward of the left front leg of the doe. What do you think that is?
Boy that button sure has a growth on him!
That sure is a nice buck. Good luck with him

Yes, that does showed up last year and had that same growth. It does not appear to have gotten any larger than it was last year.
Time for a roof stand? lol
What are they eating???
wow!! thats cool
troutms
That pic is about 20 feet out my kitchen window. I feed em corn, sunflowers and sweet feed all year long. Along with the occassional stale doughnut. But the coons get those.
Every morning, even on the mornings I hunt, I throw food out. But I won't even consider hunting near the house. Not even on a trail leading to my house. I want to hunt em where they live, not where I live. My rule is: If I can see the house, it ain't huntin.
It makes for some frustrating hunting at times but lot's of cool pics.
I looked back through some earlier pics this summer. Here he is in velvet back in August.

Oh thought it was a button lol. Doe I killed this year had a small growth on her.
I like your motto...Otto, "if I can see the house, it ain`t hunting"
Thanks for posting the great pics. :D
LOL! Your not the only one whose getting tortured by a buck. :knothead:
That is a nice one!
Some of the biggest bucks I've ever seen were bedded in brush within sight of a house or farm. But you're right, it's no fun hunting there. Maybe the smart ones know that.
I dunno, I have 21 acres around my home. I can see either my own or my neighbors house from virtually all of it. So for me, at least around home, if I CAN'T see the house I ain't huntin'.
Oh well....
Like Whip, I have three stands in my remaining 20 acres of woods, from which I can see my porch light (and the neighbor's) when the leaves fall. I don't feed them, so there's no difference in being deeper in the woods. Biggest problem is not pressuring them into being nocturnal. I have to be quiet leaving the house, so the screen door doesn't spook them.
Quit feeding 'em, Otto! Then maybe they'll stay HOME!
Good shootin, Steve
Sounds like you better quit feeding them at your house if you want to hunt them. Great deer for sure. Good luck.
Great looking pictures! WOW
That buck would fire me up, better hunt close to the house. :D
Thats a dandy Otto! Look at the body on him. He looks solid. I'm with you Otto, my wife and kids would tie me to a tree and shoot judos at me if I shot one of the deer by the house. I only have 5 1/4 acres so if I had more it might be different. Good luck!!!
Well, as long as the kids haven't given them a name or tamed him to where they can walk out and feed him, go hunt him!
Unless you just flat don't want to.
I hear ya Otto, for the first time in my life I've gotten a Private Farm to hunt, unbelievable amount of deer on it, a long walk is 400 yards !! {small farm} Totally flips me out, Im used to Huntin Deep !! But hey, I'll take it, I've passed on Many, Many deer already, almost feel guilty shootin em .....
I hear you Otto I am going to post a picture of the buck I saw in my yard a dozen times last fall. Once he was trying to breed a doe in our driveway. While it would be legal to shoot him here it just wouldn't seem like hunting. Also there are several other houses fairly close and the last thing I need is to have Bambi's dad pitching up dead in some little girls yard with my arrow hanging out of him.

You got it bohuntr
For me to throw corn out in the yard and then shoot one on his way in to feed that morning just wouldn't seem right.
So I'll be up at the butt-crack of dawn tomorrow morning, make about a 20 minute walk in and set up. We'll see what happens!!
