now ordering a bow kit does the riser come like a square block or is it close to shape and you manipulate the rest.

I build T/D bows with stuff from them, and the risers come in block form, or pieces that you laminate together to make a block,have no experience with the one piece bows and their components.

Do a search and you should find some pics of Binghams T/D bows. I've made two t/d recurves and I am currently working on a t/d longbow that I hope to post pics of soon. I used a block of brown and a block of grey actionwood with 1/8" black phenolic accents. It is looking pretty nice so far.
Binghams folks are really nice to deal with. Elmont will speak to you and answer your questions personally. All my dealings with them have been very positive.

Here's my first one from a few years back. It's pretty easy to laminate an accent stripe in when the riser block is square and flat. Also you can change the riser to your liking but just remember to keep the throat of the grip, shelf and bolts in their location from the plans, this is the pronounced.

My first one was their pronounced r/d long bow. i did a 68" model which ended up a 66" slender version to get my poundage down to 57# @ 27". i've got a ton of photos all the way through the building process, and would be more than glad to share any info i learned along the way....
i just recieved a vidio on disc of the take down recurve model "build along" from Bingham Projects, along with some parts and pieces to build a few. the vidio was good, but i wish i had ordered the written instructions as well....there were small dtails i could have refered back to easier in the written version....feel free to PM me if I can be of any help.....I'm a rookie Bowyer but i'm willing to share what i've learned so far...

Jason, I've not ordered a kit from them, just the glass and lams. I do have ALL the videos and plans, and forms (except one pc longbow) if you'd like to borrow them.

A question for you guys. I notice that some of you have more of a recurve style riser and pistol grip on your td longbows, wich I prefer. The Binghams plans I have its more like a traditional longbow style. Did you use a larger piece of wood for the riser to do that or your own design completly? Thanks

Price depends on what you want. My price list says for a td longbow (bighmans design) colored action wood about $70 for a limb kit up to about $84 for other woods with choice of Black or Brown glass ,clear glass extra. Stuff for built up limb tips and glue for limbs extra.Risers for td longbow Binghams design about $20-30 , accent stripes combo woods or overlays extra.

Limb kits for Bingham longbows are more money. I guess it's the extra lamination the have?

Doug, yes it takes more wood, I added an accent stripe 3/4 wide and it did the trick. As long as you keep the small of the handle, shelf, limb mount angle and bolt locations where they are on the print, you can do whatever you want. The actionwood cuts, rasps and sands really easy.
You can add an accent stripe easily without any extra planing required by getting their riser block and accent stripe, cutting the riser block down the middle with anything, then joining the uncut sides together with the accent stripe, all edges of the riser blocks come planed from them. Black and white fiberglass dress up the joint alot.
Shakes it's their brown actionwood and purpleheart stripe, goes great with red elm limbs, thanks.
Overlays are life savers. The purpleheart on the limbs hid my mistake trying to push the drill bit thru too fast which raised the glass there and the handle flexed too much so more fiberglass..

I did the same on the one piece pronouced r/d model shown above. i ordered a Zebra block and used Rosewood for accents and overlays. i believe this added extra strength to the riser giving it no flex at all. take a look at it on the tiller tree here and see if you agree....i may have had a much less noticable hinge off the fades if that riser flexed a bit..i don't know really, i'm a rookie at this stuff myself...
