I was out yesterday morning with my good friend Plumber (Ed Long) hunting an area I'm quite familiar with but haven't been to yet this year. This deer came by about 6:45 from the direction and area that Ed was hunting. He came in on me fast and I almost blew it. Lucky for me he stopped at 18 yards slightly quartering away. I saw him go down but didn't want to go get him yet since I didn't want to disturb the woods for Ed. Finally the crows convinced me I needed to take care of business in short order.
When I caught up with Ed a couple hours later he was pretty excited. He saw the buck first but couldn't shoot. He just felt that since the buck was headed in my direction that I might have had a shot at him. I wanted to tell him no and surprise him when he got back to the truck. I just couldn't hold my grin.
Man that was a great morning. To shoot a nice deer and to be able to share the experience of the hunt with your buddy is special. Ed took the pictures.
In case your interested, that's a 1968 Howatt Monterey that I recently refinished. A great shooting bow. By the way, there's no purse to go with the pink fletching. :D
As a footnote, the picture is actually at the end of my backyard. That tree my Howatt is leaning on is an english walnut tree given to me by my grandfather 15 years ago. I've taken many a successful hunt picture with that tree. I also carry my license in his old hunting wallet. He's been gone now for about 10 years but goes with me on every hunt.

Very nice deer! Congratulations! I like the pink fletching too. I've started using them too for hunting. There's nothing in the woods that color and the arrows are easy to find!
