I lost the land I normally hunt this year and had to find another one. My new spot is over 300 acres but also about 1 1/2 hours away. So that got me thinking about how far is too far for a regular spot.
When I lived in Jersey I just walked 150yds and I was in one of my treestands, But Now I live in Texas and one spot is 4hrs away...
For day hunts I can't do it, but if I'm doing a weekend or even a week hunt I'll drive.
15 minutes for elk, bear and deer, 9 hours for antelope. I'll do that 9 hours drive for a 2 day hunt without thinking twice!
I live in the heart of metro-hell (directly between Baltimore and DC) and I drive 3 hours to get to my camper that borders the largest piece state land we have. I don't mind the drive at all when I have a strong need to unplug for a while...

I killed most of my deer 3.4 miles from the courthouse in Calhoun GA. Got some acreage I hunt in Bartow County that's 20 minutes away. Will drive and hour and a half to Cohutta just to hunt for 2 hours in the evenings. Use to drive 4.5 to 5.5 hours, depending on traffic, to The Paradise for the weekend.

Deer I walk out my door. Elk I drive about two hours.
Believe it or not, Living in colorado, hunting spots are NOT close at all elk & mulies for me are 3+ hrs away, I hunt Whittails in Nebraska 4+ hrs away. Sucks but when you love something youll go to many lengths.
I only hunt weekends..
Two hours to my 120 acres In MN. 1.5 hours to my cousin's farm in ND. My nephew has some land I would like to try, but that is 3.5 hours away- so I have concentrated on the first two. All three for whitetail.

I've got some black bears up on the side of the mountain visible from my house but most hunts are 2 hours to the Anchorage airport, a couple hour or waaay more flight, and then just a ways further....
I hunt half a dozzen farms and have a couple sites on each farm. And only hunt them when the wind is totally right.
Some are a few mins.others are and hour away.Remember deer arn't on any clocks neither should you.
