Title: Arrow selection help
Post by: cwaggg on November 09, 2009, 03:31:00 PM
Got a Kimsha Mattawoman II 70@27" my draw is 30". I am trying to get an arrow together that will spine correctly and come in at 800+ grains. Any ideas?

Try Stu Miller's calculator.  It should get you really close.  Do you know what your bow is actually pulling at your draw?

I havent had a chance to put it on a scale but im guessing 80 plus. I have been looking at the calculator for a couple of days cant get the 10 grains per pound im looking for in a standard shaft. That will spine out. I will try and get it on a scale. I have been shooting a 2419 with 200 grain points. They shoot ok. Just trying to get some more weight to quiet this beast down.

75/95 GT's, 100grn. brass, 125 grn. adapter 175 grn. B/H, 2" alum. external footing for strength. 800 grn. total and about 25% FOC. You should be good for any critter under 1 ton!

Draw weight in the low 80's probably and a 31" arrow says about 95 lb spine, more with a heavy point or if the bow is cut close to center.  Guess I'll have to finish spining the batch of heavy ramins I have.

Check with Tim at Braveheart Archery.  He may be able to fix you up with some heavy spine and weight fir.  Laminated birch will give you the weight if it spines that high.

Arrow Dynamic Hammerhead Traditionals, leave them length along with 100 grn brass inserts.

I also have some Douglas Fir shafts in higher spine wts.  95/100, 100/105.

Aluminum, Legacy 2219's.

Thanks for all the help guys. Would those Arrow Dynamic Hammerhead traditionals really have the spine to handle that much bow and all that weight up front?
