Title: Grrifin 59'er
Post by: Catskill Longbow on November 08, 2009, 08:45:00 AM
Anyone out there with pics/comments on a Griffin 59'er recurve?  I am considering one as my next bow.

Ken, do a searh and you should find what your looking for. They are fine bows, made by a talented craftsman.

Good shootin, Steve

Looked at the search results, not much for pics.  Anybody with some new ones?

There were more pics of the 59'er, but that forum is offline for a bit.

Not the bow you're looking for specifically, but do a quick search for 'Vintage Works'  They make an outstanding '59 replica (and I believe a '64 and possibly a '67 SK)

I don't have any pics but I shot and fondled one at Denton. Smooth and fast is all I can say. If you know anything about John, you know the fit and finish is OUTSTANDING. There was one in the classifieds the other day.

4runr, I must have missed that bow.  I just sold my Griffin and am on John's list for a custom, that's why I'm asking about the 59'er.  Might want one of those instead of a new Griffin.

I got there late Thursday and shot it Friday morning. It was gone by noon on Friday. For my shooting style, I much prefer the 59er over the Griffin.

It's a McCullough 59'er.  The Griffin is one of John's models...not the same bow.

THe 59er is a great bow. I usually shoot my Griffins but I purchased a 59er from John at Denton Hill last year. The bow shoots great and handles heavy arrows very well. You would not go wrong with any of John's Bows.

George, right you are!  Just looked back at what I typed as my question.  Must have been the vino talking! I just sold a Griffin.  Going to give John a call and make sure I'm still on the list.

Any more input between the two, Griffin vs. 59er?
