I've been workin' on a few new ideas. Now with Shell going 1/2 & 1/2 on a little St Judes project with me. I got to thinkin' "Shell does so much for everyone" that she deserves a little something special. Here's a sneak preview...Doc

Frank,
You got one too early! Remember once someone gets famous/infamous whatever, the early pieces are worth a lot more...say 200 years :biglaugh:
Doc
-
what kind of file are you using to get the thorne so sharp loyd
-
HOLY COW what fantastic file work!!!! that will sure be a special knife and going to a great person who does so much for so many others. Doc, this is a very nice thing for you to do!!!
-
loyd, I use a 1/2 round marking file that I modify to get a sharper edge...Doc
-
This is only step 2 of a 4 step real vine pattern. I'm still progressing to to that stage. When you stop learning new tricks, you stagnate...Doc
-
Nice work and a great gesture Doc..... I can't think of anyone more deserving... Looking forward to seeing the finished product....Terry

Ya'll know that now I am going to have to start picking up after myself just so she lets me hold it once in awhile  . Great job Doc. She will be one happy lady. And I know I will not hear the end of how awesome the file work on HER KNIFE is for a long time lol. I am going to show her this right now. HEHEHEHE. HAPPY AND BLESSED EASTER EVERYONE.<><

Beautifull!!!!

Well I guess that was just a tease. But I wanted to make sure Shell was ready for our St Judes duo. Her fancy leather & bead work would make any knife look good. So this is just an early Thank You. Keep watching for all the great St Judes Projects that everyone is doing. Here are 3--St Judes knife backs, Shell's, and maybe one for me :)

Now I did forget one thing about Shell. She dearly loves cocobolo. I'll let her explain that. But since this is a personal knife for her & she is blond, I think I have the perfect piece of coco to go on the handle...Doc

Jeff......
I really need to compose myself for a moment...I am floored with this. I am terrible in the spotlight and I really need to reflect on what I want to say. I am desperately trying to finish my prior commitments of my orders from so many setbacks and will be pondering on your kindness and those beautiful photos and sentiments from you and comments from everyone else whom I don't feel I deserve all that much while I work today....
I'm quite speachless and emotional right now and I will be back in a while to post appropriately on this.
You are the epitome of the words "treasured friend."
-
That is beautiful work!
-
Well, Doc, all I can say is :clapper:
-
Beautiful work, for a beautiful person - inside and out - and one of my favorite folks. Ya doin' sooooo good, Doc.
-
Shell is a very awesome individual and is more generous than anybody i know on this forum....more than deserving shell.....you are truly respected and appreciated
-
Awesome stuff there Jeff. Your work with the file is as precise as that of your scalpel.
And couldn't agree with your choice of recipiants more...Shell has and continues to give deeply to many folks. Enjoy it Miss Shell, please show us a pic of your finished work.
-
Going to be quite some auction this year. Those are real sweet Jeff. Shell I think we're all as anxious to see it as you are. Great folks doing for great folks. Does it get any better than that?
-
Jake, You are very kind with your comments but I must say that I'm an unmentionable fraction of the generosity on this site. There are so many on here who soar with their giving and I know this first hand as I have been on the receiving end more than not.
It is an absolute pleasure to be a part of this trad family and know that once you mingle with these wonderful folks, you will find out that there are much more deserving than I who succeed your compliments and feel you will in time see this. That's why we call it our home ;)
I could give names but then this thread may overload :)
-
you are one special lovley lady shell and to have so much give in your heart for other people you realy deserve that beautiful knife that jeff is making for you.god bless lovley lady.brother HO'NEHE :notworthy: :notworthy:

WOW, outstanding work Doc and it could not go to a more deserving person. If one of those is going on St Judes you can bet I will be bidding on it.

Man, that's going to be one nice knife. Going to one heck of a fine person too. Can't wait to see what she makes to compliment it. It'll be awesome!
-
Hey did I ever tell you guys that she cooks to. Yep I am blessed way more then I could ever deserve. My Shell is one of a kind. Thanks to everyone for the kind words and most of all to Tippit you my Friend are top notch and a Class act. Right up there with alot of others.<><
-
Man I just saw this thread, I agree with everyone's sentiments. That is going to be one beautiful knife that is going to a deserving and beautiful hearted lady! Heart of gold...Miss Shell has for sure!! Way to go Doc! Two class acts that deserve all the good fortune God blesses them with!
-
Jeff, I am honored! I really can't say much more about this than I really am floored! The St. Judes project is a team effort and you did'nt have to do this but your heart can't help it :) we all know you too well....
I have always been an admirer of your skills and your eye for beauty in design and style. Frank always drooled over these knives of yours and like I said before, I finally got to experience why once I got one of those in hand. The knife is my most used tool as one is to you (Doctor) but not the same reasons as I'm no doctor but I truly appreciate the way one fits in your hand with multi functional qualities and beauty.
I thought Frank was rubbing off on me with his obsession for blades but I know now it's just been my own hidden obsession all the while. I became exposed to so many beautiful creations by everyone on this site that I am finding myself admiring so much more and not as JUST a tool anymore.
Now when you have those qualities stacked upon the special meaning in a custom made gift, that is what just gets me. The thoughtfulness is why I am extremely thrilled about this knife and although feeling very undeserving, it's made by you. Frank and I both feel about you as a very special friend. You are one of the best Jeff, and you don't even know it because of your true humility. :) :campfire:
-
Almost forgot to add, that coco is like my baby boxer girl whom I love so much...she's the child I never had...and when Jeff offered to make me one of his knives, I asked for cocobolo because of my girl and he even added the extra touch of the sapwood which really ties it all together...this is what I mean by Tippit, He is very thoughtful and this touched my heart to tears along with the beautiful file work and detail. I never dreamed this could be so beautiful. I am so anxious to see the rest of the thread...and will check in every so often. :)
-
How 'bout now...what's it look like today? :)
-
I'll put handles on some of these this weekend. Thanks for asking...Doc
-
:D :D :D
A true master ponders at his work first, only a masterpiece does this man build. :notworthy:
-
Shell, I think the sap wood has made you...well it's just a knife for a friend :)
-
Ok...now where's the little "sappy" graemlin I'm lookin' for?
"she" must have run off somewhere....LOL
I'm sappy yet very honest. :)
-
...she's the child I never had..
We are sisters in that.
