I am not going to bring up a sore subject about where I asked about it, but I was trying to get information about a 3 finger shooting glove I saw Fred Bear using on "The Restless Spirit" It had a compass on the back of hand and I thought that was cool.
Anybody know where I could locate one?

Grant Young,Did you make that yourself? If you did, what kind of glue did you use.It looks like you could get a compass from 3Rivers and glue it on your glove.I would like to get one of them myself.
Og, Doc knows someone that has been making the repo, of this glove. And does a great job aswell.Good luck
I'm sure you could use barge cement and glue a compass or even a GPS to a glove that stuff is great!
It is Grant who has made some of these. They are a time consuming labor of love, not an economic endeavor. His are excellent reproductions of Fred's glove.
You can always make one yourself from an existing glove and a small compass like 3 Rivers sells, but it would not be a Bear replica like Grant's.
Warberg or Shaun, how do I get ahold of this guy?The directory has 37 usernames with Doc in it.None with just Doc.Thankyou for any help you can give.
Bushy tail- the compass is installed in the glove, not on it, and it is a compass from a '54 Kodiak. Like Shaun said- they are a heap of work and have to be custom fitted. Mr. Bear made his own, as well. You can use a later model compass such as 3Rivers sells or a NATO compass by Silva. The old ones are brass; the new ones are plastic. The downside is the originals are bringing over $100.00 in good condition, at least for the time being. I make these with the help of a very talented Amish shoemaker and have turned out a few for friends but as of now I haven't decided to build anymore due to the time and expense involved. I've built them for myself for around thirty years and I have two new ones on hand for my own use.The picture I posted doesn't show anything like the depth of detail involved. Like Shaun said- I don't do it for the money, so we'll see. GY
BTW bushytail- they meant Bowdoc. I built him one cause we're good friends.
STIKNSTRINGBOW,I hope you don`t think i was trying to highjack your topic.I have that Fred Bear video, and realy liked the style of that glove.I`ll try and make one. Thanks for all the information guys.
That IS Pretty Cool!! Can now say I have Seen One Now!! :archer:
Thank you for the input, I would appreciate a close up of the way the compass is set in the leather, if you could please.
I'll get you some pics in better lighting this weekend STIK as well as some closeups. Grant

OK...I got it. Shane is next going to post a pic of his new treasure, the actual glove Fred was wearing when he killed that tiger in India in 1963. :D
Or are you trying to locate one?
I wish I could help you Shane, but... :dunno:
BTW, did you know the maker of the repo Grant Young passed away a couple years ago? :(
Very neat ;)
Yeah those are sweet gloves!! I'd like to have one myself.

I would be interested to know who was working with Grant also, the glove Grant made me is the best one I own and I'd really like another.
