Anybody setting there cameras on scrapes? If so, are you taking any special precautions doing it, to not scare off deer. Are you doing it on real scrapes or mock scrapes. If real scrapes are you juicing them with a dripper or anything else?
ttt
I have a Stealth Cam on a scrape. I've placed the camera about ten yards from the actual scrape. I "juice" the scrape when I check the camera (get rid of that 44ounce mountain dew I drank on the way down).
The camera is an infrared model - I don't think I'd place a flash camera over a scrape. Not sure it makes a difference, but I don't want to take any chances of spooking deer since the scrape is within 100 yards of one of my favorite climbing stand trees.
I place infrared and regular flash game cams on scrapes. I just picked up a cam that was on a scrape the past week (this was a flash version) and have 4 different bucks on the scrape (one buck was there multiple days). I even had a nice 8 point working the scrape, the flash did not seem to bother him.
I really like putting cams over scrapes, you get some really cool pics. I have put them over real as well as mock scrapes... I have pics of deer at both but get the mock scrapes the deer are just checking them out not actually working them. I don't worry about distance, in fact I like to get it as close as possible for a good pic.
I put my camera on a scrape Sunday afternoon. I set it for daytime pics only. I used the recycled mountain dew juice also (before I turned the camera on) I can't get back to it until Saturday to see whats there. I recieved 2 inches of rain to wash away my scent an hour after I left.
I use flash type. BUT I hang them 7-8 feet up in a tree... and lookng down. Also make sure they're 8-12 yards away from scrape. I use the Moultrie type. It may not matter every time, but I was getting a lot of 'single-only' pictures at night before starting this. Now I seem to be getting a lot more 'multiple' pictures. My brother says I'm crazy... but I really do believe we were scaring bucks w/ the flashes before hanging them up a little.
I'm w/ hickry, but I do believe that deer become "conditioned" to the flash on cameras after a few years....
As the pics below show the camera is in an elevated position aimed down at the scrape and lick limb.
I'm getting multiple bucks on my scrapes right now. I put my Leaf River (flash) over a particular scrape a few days ago and got pics of 5 diff bucks in a 3 day period. The best so far....He posed for great pics! I urinated in this scrape to freshen it up.

I had my moultrie w/flash near a couple of scrapes, got some nice pics, then nothing for a week straight. The scrapes went untouched, so I removed the camera, opened one back up, and it has since been visited and freshened up a couple of times. Leaving the camera in the truck for a bit.....
I just put two cams in areas with multiple scrapes. Will let you know in a couple days if I bothered them or not...
Basically I walked in set the cam up and left trying not to disturb the area to much.

Nice pictures guys. This is my trophy pic from my mock scrape. I guess I have to start drinking mountain dew.
I have know idea if the Mountain Dew will work, but beer of any brand seems to work well for me.
Yep. Scrape pictures are my favorite! Sooo many different customers and some real whoppers every year. I never put anything in the scrape. I put my cam where every year there is a scrape. I got 5 different bucks depositing in the scrape yesterday. I check my cam more than I should too! Doesn't seem to phase even the big boys.
Couple highlights yesterday

I'm with varmint101... I check my cams way more than I should too and it doesn't seem to affect them much :D
Placed all 4 of my cams on scrapes today. Pulled the card on the Leaf River again and had 5 diff bucks...The first pic is of the Buck I killed on Tuesday about 250 yards across the corn field from where this cam is.
3rd pic is of the buck I posted earlier...he keeps visiting flash or no flash.

Friend of mine set his camera out and now he has 6 or 7 scrapes in about a 20' circle around it. That would be the camera to get a hold of methinks. Darn the luck uh?
