I have a bow marked this way, it was made for the Archery Centre, Midland Mi. It is marked 45+ 54" D4224A Does anyone know what co made these bows for the shop?
Sorry, can't help you on the maker but perhaps someone over on the Trad Collector/History forum can.
I can tell you that Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge is located a little south of Midland near Saginaw. Back in the late sixties thru the early eighties it was opened to bowhunting only for deer by drawing. There were hundreds of deer in the refuge back then and plenty of huge bucks. It was a bowhunters paradise up until they started to allow gun hunting back in the early eighties thru present time. There are still lots of deer in the refuge but the big old bucks are few and far between now days.
I can sure see why someone back in that time period before the gun hunts would name a bow after the place.
