As you'll see, this was a less than perfect hit. But the amount of blood on the ground was once again outstanding!
Bunch of does came in at last light. Looked with bino's to make sure the big 8pt. that I'm after wasn't with them.
One stopped at about 15yds.,quartering away. Lost the arrow as soon as it left the bow. Knew I'd hit her, but not sure where.
Stuck in the ground....

How I found her....About 50yds. from where I hit her.....

Next you'll see why I prefer big multi blade broadheads.......
She's a big'un!
As you can see here, where the arrow went in...pretty far back, just behind the last rib.....
Exit...Ideally this is really where you'd want the arrow to go in on a shot like this.....
Even though the arrow angled forward, it was still pretty much further back than you'd want. It went thru the paunch, liver, and the very back of the off lung.....But the amount of blood on the ground was exceptional! The razor sharp Snuffer had her down and out in 50yds!
Just more support for why I prefer big Snuffers!
Check out the size of the head on this ol' gal...

Congrats Curt! Thought about you today when I scared a turkey.
Man that's a serious blood trail. I'll be using the 150gr Snuffers for my late season hunt. Congrats on a nice doe.
She is a big'un! What you reckon she'll weigh?
There are two eternal truths in bowhunting. You can't cut a hole too big, and you can't have too much blood.
Man that is the largest doe i've ever seen! She's bigger than our bucks! ha congrats
Nice one for sure Curt.
Huge doe, well done. Those Snuffers are legendary. :help:
Big doe!nice job.

Thanks for the pics. Say... have you checked out the cost of flights to aussie yet?
ak.
Well done Curt.........>
That's a real trophy size banana head doe there! Big ol' Snuffer in the middle of the middle did the job. Good hunting Curt!
Nice going Curt... :notworthy:
Nice big doe. No joke last night I was sharping some razor caps seen one of my old big snuffers in the box.I was thinking of switching to the snuffers agin, simple inexpensive, reliable. You my have wayed my thoughts just slightly with that blood trail. But I think that I already made my mind up. Congats
I just hope if I get an elk this December  :archer: it will be that big !
Good one, Curt!

woooo, a big'un indeed! good job curt!
Great job, and as always great photo`s!
Congrats, thanks for posting...and good luck with the buck you`re after.
Whoa! She is huge!! Those big old does are every bit as tough to hunt as a buck. She didn't get that size without having some smarts.
Nice job! :clapper:
Put her on a scale!! Got to know what she weighs - that is one huge swamp donkey!! I like the 160 Snuff's as well.
Bob Urban
Wow, that's a P&Y record book doe!!!!
Curt: I am with you on the multiblade thing. Get them razor sharp and blood will flow on a hit like that. Now go get something with bone on the head.
Great job Curt, ounce again! :notworthy: :clapper:
I love this time of the year...Bloodtrail on a carpet of fallen leaves...Bout as good as snow in my book..
I had to check your locale, she looks like an old Mulie doe! great hunt, love those snuffers. I used em for the first time this year on an elk, wow!
Thats the way to do it Curt!! I have been using Snuffers since 1976, thats when I met Roger and have had no desire to change since. Of course it helps if you can shoot like Curt!! :notworthy: :archer:
I started using them many moons ago, when I was about 18. My sister sat next to Roger on a plane once and somewhere in the conversation, she mentioned that her brothers hunt with bows. He signed a copy of his book and told her to give it to me. Sadly, I somehow lost that book when I moved out, but I've been using Snuffers since then. I've tried others, but always came back to Snuffers. I have 160's on my arrows right now.
THAT'S WHAT I CALL SNUFFERIZED.
Big doe for sure!
Way to go Curt!
I was wondering what poundage the bow was and weight of the arrow you were shooting. I am thinking about trying a heavier snuffer. I was dissapointed in a lighter snuffer. I searched back topics and found where you would only use a lightweight snuffer on small game.
The two bows I am shooting are 55# and 51# at my draw length. My current arrows weigh a few grains over 400 without a broadhead.
Thanks, Gary
Well done Bro! I'll have at least one Snuffer in my quiver when I hunt on my hunt club end of November. In those thick pines, I want all the blood on the ground I can get. They definately can be day savers...or season savers for that matter.
Next time you come across a doe that big, rope her instead. I think I've got a saddle that will fit on one that size and would like to take bets with some local cowboys on who could stay on her! WHEEW she's a monster!
Congrats on the huge doe!! Just curious, what draw weight, draw length, and arrow weight were you using?
:bigsmyl: :bigsmyl:
That's the exact reason why I went from a 125 grain screw on Snuffer to the big 160 grain glue on. Congratulation's on your doe, I can't wait to see what my Snuffers do.
I've used the 125's also, and they leave a plenty easy to follow trail, as long as you do your job. I like the 160's though. Bigger hole. Simple as that.
Way to go Curt. She's huge alright. Nice.
that doe is a big enough trophy for another thumbs up  :archer:
Nice nanny, gotta love the damage those things do.
Congratulations!
That is definately a BIG doe! A mature bow is a true trophy animal. From one Curt to another Great Job!
OH and Yes indeed Big Snuffers are WICKED!
:clapper: She's a dandy buddy :goldtooth: You sure can nock them down with those big ol snuffers.
Think she's as big as the doe you killed down here ;)
Tracy
Congrats Curt, she certainly is not small! :clapper:
David
CONGRATULATIONS Curt!!!!!!!!!! :archer:
OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
great doe,congrats. :clapper:
what type of arrow wood are you using? what was the distance? Love the snuffers.
Thank fellas :notworthy:
Tracy, No bud, not as big as this ol KS gal, but not far off I bet......
Al, Not yet bud, but it's gonna happen brutha!
As far as the set-up I was using.... It was "Timex", my 63# @28 1/2" Jack Kempf Kwyk Styk, a sweet shooter and true "killer" since I got it in '97...
Arrows are CX Terminator(black shaft)60/75's that I got from "Hot Hap"in this years white elephant.
29".... regular alum. insert.....8" Onestringer wrap.....3 rw, 5" custom burned(shape) feathers by me....with the big 'ol Snuffer 160 on a 125gr. steel adapter.....
They come in right at 630grs....10 gpp....
Have no idea what the "foc" is, but it has 300 grains of the 630 in the point end with the insert, bh, and adapter.....
SB, The shot distance was about 12-15yds, but I never paced off...
Damn! Thats a clydsdale doe!
Trophy doe for sure. Looks like the shot was plenty good enough to me. Good going.
A monster for sure! Cool pics from yesterday morning also...Can you post them? Congratulations again.. :clapper:
Curt, thats one big doe, that snuffer sure opened her up.You sure are having a good season good luck on the buck this week should be good...ED
