Those are nasty lookin! I kinda like em. Shot em yet?
those things look tough as railroad spikes!! wicked looking head for sure! I have some 190gr. Phat Head Africans on the way.
I'm gonna test them tomarrow i'll let you know. any sugjestions on what I could shoot to test them I was thinking 3/4 " plywood
I like your idea of that big 4 point. See you in the morning.
Where'd ya get them at ? They look tough...
We stock the Steelforce points. 145 grain double bevel and single bevel 225 and 300 grains.

I called steelforce and he made them to order I wanted 200 grains w/steel ferrel so he went w/titanium blade. I shot them today they seemed to fly true, very quit, shot one twice through 3/4 w/no damage.
200 grain steelforce (http://i385.photobucket.com/albums/oo292/2008dmaxguy/DSC01066.jpg)
200 grain muzzy phantom (http://i385.photobucket.com/albums/oo292/2008dmaxguy/DSC01067.jpg)
Both shot @ 20 yards w/ my savanah into dence plywood
The SF went in further, but also looks like they went in till the width of the cut was about the same.
They look nice. I shoot steel force years back. Once penetrated the far shoulder of an elk 1/2 way out the other side after breaking a rib on a 3/4 angled shoot. The bull only went 10 yards.
whats the price and how many per pack?
Thats a good observation Curt. That is exactly what happened.
I'll be shooting SteelForce 225 Single Bevel's .... biggest dang broadhead I've ever shot. I mean my 160 gr Thunderheads are a big 3 blade but these are long and wide and one big piece of sharp steel !
How is titanium for edge retention and resharpening?
It looks like that they both penetrated until they got to the ferrule. Plywood hates ferrules.
price =$49+3 per 3-pack
sharpness = just touched up edge this morning w/ that sharpening system that uses a grinder motor, and WOW sharpest broadhead Ive ever had. I sharpened the muzzys the same way, and they never got that sharp. that titanium just pops arm hair w/ very little preshure.
Still looking for good ideas for testing durability and penatration?
They look good but the ferrule looks rough!!! Looks like thats what hung up and stopped the penetration in the plywood.
Shot about twelve times every time steelforce went deeper then muzzy (both 2 blade) into pumpkins.

Ive been shooting the 145 traditionals and they are the best flying heads Ive shot to date, just like a field point from my MFX 500s.I havent shot a deer with them yet but the narrow width has me a little nervous.Ill give them one chance and if they dont drop enough of a bloodtrail Ill go back to my old reliable 125 Snuffers. Now I just need a deer to help out and cooperate.Ive got a feeling tomorrow this will happen.
Darren: "Still looking for good ideas for testing durability and penatration?"
Darren, why not test one on a critter that's in season. I bet they work great.
Bill
p.s. Make sure the critter's in season!
If I can find a critter to cooperate I'll post the results.
If you really want the best broadhead testing medium you can get. Buy a goat, test the broadheads, have a BBQ.
by the way it's spelled p-e-n-e-t-r-a-t-i-o-n
:bigsmyl:
Found my test dumby. Not bad for a black tail

Our season opens back up on Nov 23rd this picture is about 15 yards from a new tree stand.
Question:
Are the new Steelforce heads stronger than the older ones? I remember shooting some of the 125-grain heads several years ago that bent in ethafoam.
i hope u get that blacktail
You should do well in pumpkin season. That should be coming around soon. $17.00 each? Well, I'm glad the economy is doing better by the day 8^). Those mousetraps just keep comin' and a comin'.
I believe the titanium 200 grain head is a lot stronger than the 125 gr. What is ethafoam ?
Ethafoam looks like white styrafoam but it is not.It is flexible,I believe,is a polyethelene foam and comes in different densities like 2#,4#,6#.They used to sell cheap archery targets made out of the 6# density, app. 2" thickness X 2'X2'.I used to have one and that 2" slab used to stop aluminum arrows out of a 60# Bighorn recurve, until it got shot out.The heavier arrows I have been using lately, might be different.
You should be able to do a web search and come up with it.

I used a bone in pork shoulder for my experiments with a Alaska bow hunting supply "samurai" vs a zwickey "Eskimo". Hogs are all butchered at about the same weight so finding matching shoulders wasn't a problem. I used food coloring to mark the bone and put one arrow through flesh only then one through flesh and bone, thus simulating real world hunting. I threw a BBQ for my freinds when testing was complete and whole pork shoulder is cheap! I also used the same method for testing the Arrow dynamics hammer head against the gold tip 5575. I was also lucky enough to have a buffalo rib section that I used as a control.
Every stamped steel blade I have tested was damaged when it hit bone, the samurai had one hit in the ridge of the scapula that very slightly rounded the tip but did not stop the broad head from fully penetrating. Both the arrow dynamics shaft and the samurai provided marked increases in penetration, as much as 60%!
Ya I know similar tests have been famously done to exacting detail but I'm a "show me" kinda guy and if I'm going to be paying more for any piece of equipment I need test results of my own to justify the expense!
