This morning was a beautiful warm morning here in Appalachia with all the fall colors . About 8 o'clock I see a buck walking a bench above me , he turns and decides to come walk around the logging road I'm set up below . At first I wasn't sure I wanted to shoot him this early in the season , but glad I did after looking him over. Not a monster by any standards but a nice kill here in this area . I hit him almost where I was looking ,but he ran uphill 50 yards and stumbled back to my stand and gave up the ghost. I used a KME sharpener and couldn't be happier .Shot him with a Schafer Silvertip 60" 50@27" , carbon express 90's and a 2 blade magnus head .

Jack,
That riser does look familiar (:
Glad you found limbs better suited to you.
Did you have to buy new limbs, or were you able to make a swap on them?
I can't tell exactly what the limbs are, but they sure are pretty.
With trad gear, that is a respectable buck anywhere.
How bout sending me that hat....it might change my luck.
Good job JW.
Great looking deer!! Congrats. I like the looks of that Silvertip as well :bigsmyl:
Yeah Kevin I've never saw a ugly silvertip :)
That's a GOOD WV deer,Way to go. Congrats...
Dang, that's a nice looking buck! Congrats. :clapper:
Great buck!
Got to love those Schafer's !! Great Buck !! ... no way I'd be passing on that guy....Get's cold out here in the NW in Dec. and Jan. chasing Elk :wavey:
Gene a local lady here makes them , her husband is a board meember of the WVBA and she sell them at most of our events and the TBSWV events.
The one I'm wearing is single thickness and does good in the rain , the double thickness is excellent in the rain .
Yeah Bill I thought he was a decent buck for here, they get hammered in gun season and get little chance to get very old.
Jack
Way to go Jack!! Yeah, that sure is a purty riser...seems like I shot a few nice arrows through it before...Glad Billy and I could rub a little MOJO on it for you!!LOL
What are the limbs you have on it now?
Great hunt for you and nice buck to boot.
I went over to a friend's the other day just to shoot his 62" Silvertip. This is only the 2nd time I've ever shot it in 3 years but I can't get that awsome bow out of my mind!
Allen I ordered a new pair of 60" 50# @ 27' from Dave and Beth this spring and received them Mid Oct. they are stained quilted maple .
That is the second buck I have taken with it, I have one more tag left , until the week of Thanksgiving, then I get 3 or 4 more for firearms and I substitute a bow for it.
Did you do any good at the arsenal?
ChrisO you just as well order you one or buy one from someone, until you do you won't be satisfied .
Jack
Good job Jack.....
Nice to be able to put a face with the name. I do believe that's one of the few Bill Webster / Billy Shipp bows I haven't owned at one time or another! :biglaugh:
Yeah Tim my wife says I'm a old Phartt as I turned 50 in October and it shows in the picture :)
Can't have this one I bought it last year from Billy and killed 3 deer with plus I have taken 2 so far this year . It offically has Mojo :D .Dang hunting is hard here this year , no hard mast what so ever , but I'm going back out this evening as soon as the rain stops .
Jack
Good going again Jack! Papa Smurf would be
proud!! LOL
The arsenal hunt was pretty much a wash out. I did see a couple nice bucks though.
I did go hunting this evening....stay tuned :saywhat: :archer:
Hey Allen....any luck? I had some young guy, around 14 I'd say stalking the woods with his white tee shirt and jeans. He looked to be trying to thin the squirrel herd with his bow.(Good to see kids still go in the woods) He hunted right up under my stand but I didn't have the heart to interupt his hunt. He slowly faded back into the woods. It was long ago we were that age!
Jack was that age....but a longgg time ago!!! :jumper: You asked for that one Mr. Whitmire! Don't worry though Billy will be along shortly to slap me around!
Tim, it was a good evening.....just waiting for my photographer (wife-number one) to get home from taking the kids Tricking......
Good thing I'm no where CLOSE to 50!! :bigsmyl:
Well, I guess I'm closer than I used to be...LOL
Good evening.....need a camera....talk to me brother????
Patience Grasshopper
Look man....the Phillies are on in a minute and you and I are sitting by the computer typing glorified emails back and forth. We really need to get a life!
Alright, I'm checking back in half and hour, your sweety better get home and start snapping some photos!
GO PHILLIES!
Yeah, she's about to use up the "wife number one" status if she doesn't get home quick!!
Heck, I killed early this evening. I have nothing better to do than sit here and torment you.... :biglaugh:
Now you young wipersnappers quit with the 50 jokes and get to posting some pictures .
Philies surely your not a fan :)
Beautiful bow (I'm biased), and beautiful deer! Well-done!
