Bought these new 2-3 years ago & I finally slipped the inserts into them, it doesn't take much to knock them loose. It's like they cut the slot too far back into the rear of the ferrule...is this normal on the "new" Bear heads?
These are bluish in colour, with the one-piece aluminium ferrule, 145 grain.
once you slide the bleeder in did you then slide it toward nock and get the bleeder in the two small indents on either side of the ferrule? be careful! a slip can be costly!
hope that helps
What Charlie said...pull the insert down to the notches.....and be careful.
Thanks gents, yes I know about the indent slots, I was shooting Greenies years ago with Microflites too
If you take a Greenie and a 'new' Bear head side by side, you'll see how the rear of the bleeder slot goes farther back on the new head. The rear of the slot no longer helps hold the bleeder too because the slot goes too far back. I'm asking if others have this long slot too in these newer heads or maybe mine are dodgy?
I know the bleeder is meant to snap off on bone contact, but IMHO, that bleeder has to be held securely in order to snap off, rather than get knocked crooked (instead of breaking) and thus impede penetration.
Oh buggers, I'll just glue 'em with some Ferrule-tite or sell them.
