Title: This evening's hunt
Post by: centaur on October 26, 2009, 09:12:00 PM
I am fortunate to have a small 'honey hole' where only two of us hunt. My hunting buddy is a compound guy, but since he got me on this place I'm certainly not holding that against him   :D . This evening I had 5 bucks and 6 does keeping me company, with a spike buck bedding down under my stand. I probably could have shot a doe, but she was kind of wired up so I let her pass; tomorrow is another day. I also had 20 turkeys within 10 yards, but I have already filled my turkey tag, so I just enjoyed watching them and listening to their conversations. The best part was watching a very mature 4 by 4 whitetail for about 20 minutes. He never got in range, but again, there is always tomorrow. Evenings like this is why I hunt with trad equipment. Those of us who choose 'the hard way' get to see nature in its purest form, and we need to count our blessings. Enjoy your time in the woods, it is precious.
