Post by: koger on October 26, 2009, 07:58:00 PM
A friend of mine has a uncle who lives ther, 2500 acres and is infested with hogs, ruining his deer hunting area, he says. Told us to come hunt for free, just kill hogs, us his bunkhouse and trailer he has guided deer hunters stay in.Six of us are planning a 5 day hunting trip, mid January after deer season closes with coytoe, javelina and hogs, hogs hogs on the agenda. Anyone give me any feedback, tips as this will be our first time there and hog hunting. Thanks, Sam.

South of San Antonio. I would invite some of you fellers, but I got invited, you know how that goes. Maybe if this works out, might make a yearly thing out of it, see how big it gets. SAm.

Good luck, if it hot, find water, bait with corn soaked in diesel, or raspberry jello.

Great hunting, just got back from a hog hunt down that way. Tough   country to stalk. The brush is like no other. Corn helps alot. Hogs move alot at night so try to get some little sticky lights to put on the bottom of a feeder. If you do want to stalk leave the packs and back quivers in camp, cause they will just get hung up on all the brush and thorn bushes. Have a great time, its a beautiful country!

Man, y'all are in for such a treat. Hunt day or night, watch for the rattlers, yes in Jan its Texas. Cold at night warm in the day so bring various clothes. Then again, in 2004 it snowed and there were snowmen being built on the beach from Galveston to Elcampo. If you have snake chaps, pants, or leggings, bring them they help with the Cacti.
Post up lots of picks, and get ready for a real good time. Enjoy the mexican food.

It seems that almost anywhere in Texas is prime hog country. I have hunted in Zavala county a time or 2 and there are some pigs down there. January is a good time. Prepare for cold and hot weather. Look out for rattlers they grow big in south Tx. You will have great time. I live about hour west from the SA airport and work in downtown SA about 15 minutes from the airport. Let me know if I can help in anyway. Good luck
