Last Friday went to my stand wind was right and was in the stand for about an hour, when a big doe came out on my right side parallel to me about 20yrds in the thick scrub oaks. She was looking over her right shoulder and then she scurried away. About half an hour later I heard the muzzleloader shot followed by a second shot( it's bow season only) not 30yrds from the first one. both were about 60yrds to my rear. At this point I was not sure weather to stay or go? I stayed and saw NOTHING! in the future should I waste the time and stay?,deer are very, very spooked in Jersey.
Go! And go straight to your Game Warden!
Oh, and WEAR ORANGE as you go!
A game warden in South Jersey wouldn't care they are so under-maned. I have tried that many times and get blown off.
I would stay, unless you can hear or see the person making a racket. Numerous times I have had deer walk right up to me after a muzzle blast, while I was dressing out the first one.
I look at it this way. Deer are sneaky. I dont mind when I hear people in the woods(as long as the are 100 yards+ away from me). I have had deer sneak by them, right to me. All depends on the terrain and such though...
