Title: 3M tape for arrow wraps?
Post by: CMR on April 06, 2007, 04:59:00 PM
I've heard you can use some kind of 3M tape for arrow wraps. Some kind of automotive reflective stuff?
What kind is it and where can I find some?

Thanks..I know I can get arrow wraps from "that" website but I'm doing a little experiment and would rather see if I can get some from an automotive place around by my house, if it is automotive tape stuff.

WalMart, auto parts section, comes in white and red, peel-off backing. Weighs next to nothing but I put mine up front, a couple inches behind head, to keep arrow balance front of center, though I doubt this tiny weight matters. Put it on before you dip in finish, if you make your own arrows, and it will stay on forever.

Hello...I work for 3M and they have a very sticky Vynel(sp) tape that I think is avaiable at Wally World..it comes in different widths.  We use this tape all the time and I can tell ya its stick through everything but super hot water.  They also make the reflective tape for traffic sign and I'm in the process of tracking some down.

Yep, automotive pinstriping tape works just fine. Most are 2mm vinyl (reflective is thicker tho). Depending on what shaft diameter you are working with 1" - 1 1/4" will work....

However, you can get a REALLY good deal from one of our sponsors named "onestringer" that can make up a bunch of them any length, any width, about any color (even reflective) for an extremely reasonable price....

All of the 3M vinyl pinstriping tape is the same stuff we use but it is cut down to smaller widths. Nappa and other automotive stores will have or can order it for you.

I do a small pin stripe of reflective tape on my hunting arrows between the nock and the back of the feather.   They really shine (reflect) back at you at night with a LED light.
