Is it ok to shoot a bow 3 under if it is not tillerd for that way of shooting , I wonder this because my top loop on my string seems to be wearing out and have only had it on for like a couple months! Any help would be appreaciated1 Thanks
Must have a bur in the string gruve.
Ok, I have tired lighlty sanding it a little but do not know if it did any good yet. I do wax it often to keep it in good shape, But have been doing alot of shooting so! Thanks
Folks shot 3 under many years before anyone thought of the need to tiller for it. The need is overstated, at the very least.
I agree with George. I shoot 3 under and all of the bows I have owned except one were tillered for split finger. I could not tell any difference in the bow that was tillered 3 under. That's just my opinion.
Perfectly Ok to shoot 3 under on non 3 under tillered limbs...
I have two sets for my widow, original set is tillered for spilt finger. When I ordered a second set for target shooting I ordered them with tiller set for 3 fingers under.
Only real difference I notice is that on the limbs that are tillered for split finger I have to set the nock point just a little higher to get good arrow flight.
Your string wear comes from another problem...
I also shoot three under and you may have to tweek your tuning a little but that's it. It should never wear your string out. That's a defective string or like stated dirt or something.
I agree with george. I switched to a two under, ring and middle shooting style. Nice clean, quiet release. Shooting a dryad orion and don't think it matters how it's tillered.
I shoot 3 under with all the bows I have owned no matter how they were tillered. Just have to adjust nock pt. like Buejeger said.
Ive only had 2 trad bows, a Kmag and a Montana. The Kmag show very abnormal outside shelf wear when shot 3 under and gets bad vibration/noise. The Montana does not have this issue. Could it be the short bows with a long draw could compound any difference? The Kmag shoots awesome split finger, assuming I move the nocking point for that.

myself being a very long draw (32"+), a 3-under shooter, and shooter of short bows (56" LB), I think you are still not tuned correctly, set up wrong, or have a form issue. Simple things like using an upper and lower nock have made big impacts on flight. Check these type of things out. Long draws magnify issues, especially on "short" bows.

lightly sand string groove where string is wearing.probably a burr or rough edge.had a mosshorn that liked to do that, and it took it out.poly coat when done.
I shoot 3 under on a bow that is standard positive tiller, the only problem I have is getting it quiet enough to suit me...PR
When you go to three under you are pulling closer to the center of the bow. If you are having more noise, then find what the noise is; is it string or is it arrow. You may have to adjust both brace height and nock height a little but you should be able to quiet it down.
What is the tiller on the bow now Paul?
Thanks, yeah I do have my nock set a little higher, its quiet and shoots good, but just a little worried about my string!
