Today was one of those no pressure just see what happens type of days. Left this morning not expecting to get an afternoon hunt in, but the weather held and decided to hunt the afternoon. Did not have high hopes because of the wind. The morning sit was not very exciting as far as deer. Had one little spike under the stand who had a pretty white spot on his face. I named him Spot, maybe someday I'll see him again he'll be easy to identify. But there was plenty else to pass the time, some chickadees, warblers, and one hawk (not sure what type). At around ten I decided to start reading, "A Sand County Almanac," so far a great read this book really helps you look at things the way they should be. While driving around during the mid-day noticed that deer were up and moving, so I decided to head back in early. Had my first deer at around 2:20 a small 4 point entertained me for about an hour milling around munching on acorns. It is still fun to have deer that close and to just watch them going about there daily routines. Not that anything is routine with deer!! I then had this small doe come in at 3:30 to about 12yds and decided she would be a nice way to enjoy the day a little more and help fill the freezer. She was down in about 70-80yds a double lung hit with a Phantom. As I sat there just watching the rest of the day unfold I saw a few more deer including two nice bucks. One of them heard something zing right over his back ;) Oh well we'll see each other again. The other politely ignored my best grunts and proceeded out to the field. All in all an enjoyable day to be outdoors. Joe
