Title: muzzy phantoms ?
Post by: BUCKY on October 17, 2009, 01:13:00 PM
Has anybody used the 220 grain as a 200 grain 2 blade by removing the bleeder blade?

Did anybody get a deer with them as a 2 blade and a 4 blade? Did you see a big difference in having the bleeder blade in?

I have shot hogs and deer with the phantom in all wieghts and with all blade configurations out of several different weight bows. SHOOT the set up which flies the best out of your bow. I prefer the four blade setup myself. Do yourself a favor and get the sharpner from Muzzy to sharpen the heads. It is the trick for sure.

I agree with Jeff just because 4 blades equals all dead deer for me and I lost one with the 2 blade set up.....which none of it has to do with the head it's all with me of course, but I feel more comfortable with 4 blade.  If I had to shoot a head the rest of my life it would be the 4 blade muzzy phantom.

Well I wish I was telling you that the doe I shot this morning with the 200 grain two blade Muzzy Phantom was piled up dead, but unfortunately I focused so hard on the spot on the deer at 12 yards I didn't notice the twig right in my arrow path   :knothead:  .  Needless to say the arrow flew great right up till it richoceted off the twig causing it to fly high over the deers back    :banghead:   And to add insult to injury I couldn't find my $20 arrow       I'll let you know Monday as I'm going back to settle the score!

Bucky,

No, as this is the first year I have shot this heavy a broadhead.  I usually shoot the 4 blade Muzzy Phantom in 125 grain and have killed deer with it.  I've always shot 4 blade so I bought these heavy Phantoms intending on shooting it as a 4 blade but the shaft likes the 2 blade 200 grain better.  I hope to have you an answer on Monday evening!

I have now killed 7 deer with the 2 blade and love 'em! I second the muzzy sharpner. I shot through a doe this year: left shoulder blade, heart, exit right elbow. Broke my arrow but got the broadhead and insert. Sharpened it and it's on my #1 arrow. Love the heavy head...comes on a Cx 250 at 31.5 inches out of a 71# CM Hunter II.

My trouble is removing and reinstalling the bleeder blads. I love the phantom otherwise.
