Ok, as a newbie, I've spent the past several nights reading through the threads and posts on here along with searching the internet for information.
One thing I have quickly noticed is there is an overwhelming number of small custom bow makers out there. In my searching, I have found someone that is going to let me use one of their Bob Lee recurves to get me started.
I'm on the search for a bow of my own as well and there are a number of bows that looks like they would fit the bill right here in the classified section.
My question (which is highly opinionated) is what's your favorite bow maker? If a guy was looking for a nice recurve setup, who would you go to?
I'll wade in just for novelty's sake. As you stated, it's a highly subjective topic. Here's my "top" 3, broken down by price.
Budget = Quinn's
Mid = Dryad Orion, RER, or Whisperstick
No Budget = Schafer or Morrison
Again, those are just the ones that come to my mind immediately, and sticking with recurves. There are a ton of quality bowyers out there today. You won't go wrong with most of them. For most of us, the "magic" bow usually boils down to the grip we like best. All the bows listed above are excellent shooters, but there are dozens more that are just as sweet!
That's exactly the type of info I'm looking for. Thanks!
i have a wisperstick coming.some of the nicest bows iv seen. curtis just saw 5 bucks in my back yard one was a 10 point seen him bed down under 100 yards from the house. loyd
I'll play.

As you have found, there are a lot of bowyers out there. Fortunately, most of them are excellent! It ends up coming down to personal preference and no one bow is the perfect bow for everyone. The more bows you can shoot the better decision you will make for YOU!
If you decide to take a look at the RER's please let me know. There is a link to RER in stock bows and the RER website below.
