Who has nightmares about his bow breaking? :scared:
Seriously, as early as last night I had a dream that my bow felt sloppy when I shot it, so I took off the leather at the handle, and noticed that it was broken in half. These are among the worst nightmares I have, and it's actually not the first time I dream this...
Had a similar nightmare a few days (or weeks) after I first got it, that my father strung it backwards, so it - naturally - broke. I woke up in panic, and immediately took it out of the bow-sock to check that it was alright. Hell, I was scared!
Please, tell me I'm not the only one...
I do because I've had two delaminate in the last two month. A '65 Bear Kodiak delaminated for no good reason first and a week later I had an arrow split on the bow and a '72 Bear Kodiak Hunter started to delaminate at the riser. I'm kind of shell shocked now.
Luckily for you, it is "only" a nightmare! :p
Though I believe that to be a disturbing one!
Last week I was building a bow for the children in the kindergarten where I work.
We were all out in the woods, where some trees had recently been thinned, and I found a perfect birch log, which we carried home with us.
Me and the kids split it, and got to work on a good piece, filing and slowly shaping it for two days.
Then when it was nearing its finish, i decided to string it to see the shape of the limbs, and then made the fatal mistake to try and see if it
was bendable, but I pulled it too far :(
Disappointment followed, but we're gonna try again soon! :p
Next time, i will be more careful!
Yep mostly when I'm building one.....
I did once a couple years ago and not two weeks later my 1970 k mag broke on me at full draw.
You need professional help Andreas :biglaugh:
I have a old Bear Black bear and i cant tell you how many dreams i have had that it has broke on me. One was not to long ago, it was like yours where the bow felt weird. mine was far to easy to pull back and when i looked at it the top limb by the shelve was cracked like a recordion. I dont like those dreams.
accordion not recordion.
I did actually have a dream about my Rose Oak TD bow....not de-lam but the tip broke while on a trip.
I can see it very plainly even now that the string still looked "tight" but when you picked up the bow the lower tip was just barely hanging on!
I guess on 2nd thought I would classify this as a nightmare!!!
Don't think on it too much or it'll make you nuts...trust me on this...I had a take down longbow break on me at full draw a couple years ago. It was a one of those that utilized the bow-bolt system and it broke right where the two halves wer joined. Fortunately it was after the season but just as I was gearing up for my first 3-D shoot of the year. I'd be lying if I said it didn't bother me for a while after that whenever I came to full draw on any of my bows.
I've had few old bows either de-laminate or fail at draw. A couple of Tamerlanes de-laminated and a super mag 48 that broke at full draw. Sounded like a m-80 and drew blood as well. Then I glued it back together and promptly did it again, drawing blood again. Some people are really dumb. I decided to "stick" with bows that are after when you first could get epoxy at home in the early 70s. I theorize that the glue is better after then. I don't remember dreaming about breaking bows though and I hope I don't.
I only had stickbows break on me so far. Still can't help having these dreams now and then. Especially when I read books about bowmaking before I hit the sack.
And who ever said I needed professional help is probably right :biglaugh:
hey their just bows, if it breaks you get to pick a new one or two or three or............
Nope.
I usually have the one where I am running as hard as I can but I am moving in slow motion.
Killdeer
Killdeer,
I'm pretty sure everyone had that one. Usually it feels like I'm not running slow-mo, but I just can NOT hold on to the ground. Gravity feels non-existent. Truly horrible. But not a nightmare similar to... to... bows... breaking... :scared:
