Anyone have any ideas for a temporary nock for tuning a new bow?
A while back, I recall a thread about using a tie for plstic bags?
I have a new treadway to tune for the nock point and could use some ideas.... I end up chewing up the string with a Brass Nock Set, and moving it..
:knothead: :knothead:
Mitch, I use a rubber band. Just tie it tight around the string and trim.
MASKING TAPE-TRY IT
Dental floss ---waterproof, all I use
There are two styles of nock tools out there. The stlye that has a lever behind the claps seems to not chew up the serving. If I had one here I would take a pic.I use a brass nock point for my temporary one then wrap serving and glue once I is set. It seems that I get better flight and it don't wear my serving as much that way.
Duct tape 835 Nashua. Works perfect do not wrap to tight then it becomes your perment nock.

black electrical tape. as a matter of fact i use as my primary nock.
duct tape here but the plastic tie sounds better...PR
Yeap electrical tape, especially like the little colored rolls, you can cut a strip to the width with a pair of scissors to your liking. Be real careful trimming a strip without touching the sticky part except at one end. Trim the touched part off after you wrap it around a few times and it will last almost as good as a perm nock point.
Masking Tape, in my black swamp i tuned it and still have it on,
I love my Treadway , good luck with your new one

Since I started making strings I take my smallest serving size and tie knots on one side and then on the other for about 1/8"...then double back and burn the ends.
I can get it very tight this way but I can still twist up and down as needed. This is very close to the dental floss method.

What Oliverstacy said. I get heavy serving and make it about a 1/4 inch tall and screw it up and down the center serving until I find the right spot than I add another 1/4 inch and make it real tight so it will never move. Its always worked well for me. (Tie over and under knots to get nice symetrical nock)
I'll second (or third or fourth...whatever) the masking tape. I use the blue painters tape and tear off a narrow (maybe 1/16") strip...doesn't have to be perfect. I've used them on a string for over a year without having to replace.
then I make the 'charlie lamb' style serving nock :)
