I put a Tred Barta quiver on my Dalaa and was impressed with how will it fit and I liked having 8 arrows with me in the field. However I noticed my shooting has become erratic. I spent a lot of time blaming myself and practicing longer and harder to no avail. Finally I took the quiver off and my shooting was back to normal. I have always used a bowquiver in my compound days but am now switching to a back quiver to use with my Dalaa.
My question to the Tradgang, Is it normal for a bow to shoot way different and inconsistent with a bow quiver? Was I just being greedy by trying to load up 8 arrows on the bow? If a 3 or 4 arrow quiver is all that works then I definitely want a back or side quiver because I like to shoot when I'm in the woods. Thanks for the feedback.

IF YOU ARE NOT USED TO HAVING THE QUIVER ON YOUR BOW, IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR A BIT. IF YOU WANT TO USE IT THAT WAY, KEEP PRACTICING.

I took my bow quiver off and went with a Cat Quiver. The bow balanced better and I started shooting better.
Some people say a bow mounted quiver makes little difference. I can't and wouldn't fault them. Many shooters use them and perform well with them.
However, someone spent alot of time making and balancing my bow. Then I threw it all out of balance with a side mounted quiver. When I removed the quiver the whole thing felt and shot better, much like yours.
Do your own thing but why give up accuracy. Look at a Cat Quiver VI. The arrows are just as accessable and better protected. If you want one at your finger tips, try a Skookum One Arrow with the Cat.

I can't like bowquivers. They mess with the bow's balance, ugly up the beautiful, graceful lines and are handy when you are carrying the bow but in the way the rest of time. Yuck.

Im looking to get one of his quivers cause they work on both recurves and longbows. Does it make alot of sound durning the shot? Is it solid?

I've got quite a few different bow quivers: selway riser mount screw in, thunderhorn limb bolt and boa quivers, and an eagle's flight Cherokee 4 arrow.
On a bow like the Dalaa, I would use a more modern bolt on quiver, something that affixed securely to the riser only. Or at worst, a limb bolt quiver...I wouldn't attach anthing to those limbs of a takedown.
That said, if you still want a limb mount strap on style quiver I highly recommend the Eagle's Flight as the one that effects the shooting characteristics the least.
As Jeff said, it is different balance with a bow quiver and typically will take some getting used to. You also will probably have to re-tune your bow if you're picky like me, cause a bow quiver full of arrows will effect the shot arrow's relationship with the bow.

The Dalaa needs a riser mount quiver which means you will need a bracket. The way the limb bolts and limbs are set-up is not condusive to any limb mount set-up and will mess your shooting bad. To balance it better you can get a weight for the stabalizer hole that isn't obtrusive if needed.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I have ordered a catquiver and I'm sure I can make that work. Now that the quiver is off the bow I can say I really like the feel of it a lot better.

I am using a back quiver now. I have a bow quiver I took off my bow just because I didn't like the looks & it imbalanced the bow. It is a strap on quiver, I made a strap out of leather,attached a couple pieces of velcro, & attached the strap to the straps on the quiver made it into a G.F.A. type quiver. I like it a lot that way. Frank

The secret is to tune your bow after you mount whatever quiver you decide on. On the Dalaa, I would go with a riser mount quiver. But most of all, after you put everything your going to put on the bow, then tune it. It should shoot as good if not better, because of the extra weight. My thoughts! :-)

A bow with a short handle won't handle a quiver very well for me. The arrow flight gets erratic. When I mount a quiver on a bow, I like the bow to be just a tad heavy on the top from center balance. Just works for me. But and a big but,sometimes here in the Texas Panhandle, a quiver full of arrows turns into a sail and can be very disruptive of a shot. Also trying to hunker down out of mind in the sagebrush and mesquite can be a problem with arrows sticking out and tangeling in stuff. I like the feel but more and more I use some kind of a side quiver. Wind don't bother it.

on my longbow it hurt at first but then i took it off and there for a while my shooting was alright, and then it got REALLY bad. so i put it back on and it shot good.
its a Thunderhorn Boa strap on quiver.
on my recurve i can tell any difference with it on or off, i just like it on a lot better... make it heaver and stedier...
