I know a bit about WA hunting. The areas I know are about 100 miles south of you near Toledo.
Elk can be decent on the westside of the state. The Blacktailed deer are the most difficult species to harvest for a couple of reasons.
If you plan to bow hunt WA, I recomend you purchase Bowhunting Trophy Blacktails by Cameron Haines. It has a ton of info on OR and WA for deer and elk and will save you a lot of time and effort.

me growing up on the central oregon coast and all i can relay to you my best methods for blacktails and elk....i find some logging units that were cut 2-3 years earlier then scout the firetrails that go around them,you can learn a lot from these trails as the animals use them for feed and they have freeways goin into them.my experiences also lead me to ridge tops looking for fernbeds,this can be very productive also.back when i hunted rifle i used to travel around the logging units 100 yds or so back in the trees looking ahead as the bucks would be bedded close to the treeline.there are more methods but these were the most productive for me........larry
