I have a 64", 3-PC T/D Schafer Silvertip recurve. The string that came with the bow is 58" long. When I strung the bow at The Archery Shop right out of the shipping package the BH was 8-1/4", measured from the string to the deepest part of the throat of the grip. The string seems a bit short to me for a 64" recurve and the BH just a bit high. Anybody have a 64" Silvertip and can you share with me the BH you use and the length of string?
Thanks!
Bill
Bill, been awhile since I made a string for a schafer, but should be about a 60" for your bow. good shootin, steve
Steve,
Thanks, that's what I thought it should be, too. Now if someone can just tell me what the BH should be. :)
Bill
Any more help? Or do I wait to hear from Dave or Beth?
Thanks!
Bill
Bill, I have mine set at about 7 5/8" but have shot it up at 8" depending on the set-up/tune. Hope this helps, Ed
I like mine 7 3/4 to 8" high seems to be the best height for me 62" tip
On my 58" and 60" they like 8" BH's.
Jack
Ed,
What length is your Silvertip? And what length string are you using with it?
Thanks!
Bill
Bill,
If I remember correctly, Tip strings are 1" shorter than normal, ie, normally for a recurve at 64"AMO, the actual string length would be 60",4" shorter than AMO so for a Tip the string would be 59",5" shorter than AMO. Beth will answer your question for sure. On the 58-62" Tips I have owned,7 1/2"-7 3/4" was the recommended brace, had mine at 7 3/4".
Danny
I think they recommend 4 inches shorter on the FF models and 5 inches shorter on the dacron bows.
My 62" likes a 7 5/8" BH and a 57 3/4" string.
