Even though it was quite windy this past Wednesday. I decided to go because the Weatherman said the wind was suppose to die down. I got on stand at about 5:30 pm and it was still windy, pulled up my bow, and looked up and here come 2 does, I quickly get an arrow on the string. I pick the largest of the 2 does and waited for her to turn broadside. I raise and draw my bow and she catches the movement and jumps to her right. My arrow catches her in the rear ham and off she goes. Of course I am thinking bad hit. I sit down and wait until 6:00. I let down my bow and prepare to descend my stand, when I looked up and see a deer coming. I am thinking it is the second doe returning,so I quickly pull my bow back up. The deer turns out to be a spike buck. Back behind him came this large body 6 pointer. He is facing me and I wait until he turns broadside at 16 yards. And would you believe it I promptly shoots over his back. He spooks and jumps behind some trees. I get another arrow on the string. I can see him behind the trees, but no shot. All the while he is standing there looking back wondering what it was that spooked him. He decided to get out of there and began moving from my left to my right quartering away through the trees. I look for an opening and at 20-25 yards let fly and the arrow hits him further back than I wanted to, but it is complete penetration. I finaly let down my bow and take up the blood trails. The doe made it no more that 50 yards and the broadhead had cut through the femoral artery. I located the blood trail for the buck and found him about 50-60 yards beyond where the doe had fallen. The broadhead exited through his liver. Needless to say it took me quite awhile to get them out of the woods, but I guess you could say it was a labor of love.(lol). 62" Dale Stahl longbow, 59Lbs@ 31", 585Gr Goldtip Trads, 4 blade 220Gr SS Muzzy Phantoms. Good Luck to you all the rest of the season. Shoot Straight and Good Hunting. (http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn230/SNUFFER8/IMG_0816.jpg)

Tony, Tell everybody about the dozen or so you got last year! But only six was with his Fox Breed...Tony can flat out kill some deer and for an Old Timer can pull a pretty heavy bow for his age....Congrats Old Buddy and hope to see you soon... Keefer's
Congratulations Tony.....
What a night indeed...hope to do the same this weekend.
Nice looking deer.
Josh
Nice work Tony and great looking bow. How many deer can you guys take in a season?

:bigsmyl:
Very nice Tony,congratulations.
Good shooting Tony
Awful early to be filling those tags Tony! That'll leave you plenty to hit the sika deer. They are starting to rut! Congrats and nice job. All you gotta do is wave an arrow at em and they fall over dead!
Saweeeeeeeeeett!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great job, Tony. Having shot with him a few times, I am not surprised that he did a double.
Congrats.
Great work Tony. Nice critters.
Congrats! :clapper:
very cool
Congrats.
Tom, To answer your questiion on how many deer you can take in Maryland it used to be 12 with bow,12 muzzleload and 12 gun...If you shoot a buck you must kill two does before another buck can be taken...Must also have a Bonus Buck stamp that is $10.00 but you can get it ahead of time....The does must be reported in to the D.N.R. before the second buck...I know the Sika deer is a whole different story and do not count as a whitetail...Steve Kendrot can tell you more about the sika story and he is like Tony when it comes to knockin em down...If you have 1 buck and 11 does and a dozen arrows and can hit em like Tony you can take them all by Flock shooting at the same sitting... :D God Bless, Keefer's <")))><
Good on ya, Tony!
Good shooting, nice pair of deer!
Way to go Tony. You certainly are on roll.
Jack
MMMMM, backstraps! Great job on the shots and follow up, great story.
I'd be happy with just a single. Big congrats.
Hi Tony,
Good Job, nice to see other Maryland boys nocking them down.
Do they still have the winter leauge at Ann Arundel?
Congrats, Tony! That is one big doe!

Keefer, what do you mean "Old Timer" and he can pull some wt for his age, How old is Tony? Looks still pretty young to me, of course when your 48 "old" take on a new meaning :biglaugh:
Also meant to congratulate Tony for a fine job!
John, Tony is older then "Dirt" I think he's pushing close to 60 but his looks could fool ya...He wears his age well but hard to tell with all that Camo on...I think I know why he get's so many deer...He eats lots of Peanut Butter while he's on stand and been caught a time or two with his paw in the peanut butter jar and smears it on his boots or something and the deer just follow his tracks in for a 1 yard shot...Next time you get around him you can get wiff of it...I bet he's reading this thread right now and got a knife with some peanut butter and his tongue is licking the knife ... :goldtooth:
Nice deer! I'm gonna have to try some of that "Peanut Butter Cover Scent".
Now something I just noticed and proof he had peanut butter with him when he took these two deer...Go back and look at the tip of Tony's nose...Do you see the shiny spot in those pics? That's 100% Peter Pan brand Peanut Butter and not a flash from the camera...
!["" "[dntthnk]"]("graemlins/dntthnk.gif")
Instead of his handle being Snuffer it should be " Peter Pan Man"
Wow thats awesome! congrats
Well Well Well. Man Keefer you must have ESP. I just pulled this thread back up, and don't you know as of right now I am eating a peanutbutter sandwich(LOL). I am not pushing 60 yet, I have a number of years before I get there.(LOL) But I do want to thank all of you fellows for the Congrats and kind words. The season have started off good so far. The pic below is of a Doe I took on opening day before going to work. I took her at 17 yards, and she ran down hill towards a stream and thats where I found her. I have always wanted to take a dozen deer in the same season, nothing macho, but just a personal goal of mine. But I just can't seem to get over the hump. Until this past season 9 whitetails was the most I had ever taken in one season. Last year I got to 11, so this year I am not counting. If it gets there, fine, if not I will still enjoy myself in the great outdoors. I am doing all my hunting this season with a Dale Stahl longbow that I acquired at the Baltimore MATC Shoot. I am really a recurve guy, but I do like this Stahl longbow, and it really shoots good for me. Again good luck to all you fellows and may all your arrows find their mmark. Shoot Straight and Good Hunting.

Congratulations Tony! What great day in the woods!! And you're sure off to a great season! 12 deer in one year?? Now that would take some shooting!
Congrats!
Way to go Tony! Those 220 Phantoms are awesome heads....
Very nice!
Bravo Bravo !!!! :clapper:
Congrats
Tony, Otis mentioned to me you got a doe earlier but I thought it was the one you started the thread with...Wow man that's great and looks like one well placed arrow in this doe...I had to make all those remarks about you and the peanut butter just to get you back on here ya know...Kind of like what those boxers do to thier opponent before a big fight ...Sorry about that but you got to remember Bruce was over my house this week and when he comes over he is like a Virus and a little of him wears off on me... :knothead:
Nice job, Tony!!
Wow! What a great day! Good job.
Tony, you KILLING machine. Save a couple for me would you. BILL

Send me some photos for the TBM site. I just put four new ones and you could almost double the number of photos - yourself. Good shooting.
John
Awesome! Never had a double. I'm usually so excited about getting one that I just can't wait to get out of my stand and start looking for blood. Both of those look like big deer.
Tony, Tony, Tony!!!!!!!!!
Good hunting, my friend.
Couldn't have happened to a nicer fella.
Enjoy those backstraps, buddy.
I bet you were on tired dude. I love getting doubles, just not the day after, LOL. Congrats on a great buck and tasty doe!
Wow. Nice evening. Congrats.
Yeah Michael Arnette, you bet I was tired, even my arms was a little sore for all the pulling. But I guess I would do it again in a heartbeat. Thanks to everyone.

Congrats Tony.... thats more meat than I'll make in a year!
Tony just curious why you went to Muzzy Phantoms when the Snuffers were your go to head for so long? Anyhow, great shootin and enjoy the rest of your season.Paul
Thanks again fellows. Kevin I will forward you a couple of pics, thanks for asking. PBNJ I have not cast away my beloved SNUFFERS. These Phantoms was something I wanted to try and I must say I am quite pleased with them and I think they are a very good head. I plan to take 3 more deer with the Phantoms this year and then I will hunting the rest of the season with my SNUFFERS. Shoot Straight and Good Hunting.
Tony Sanders/aka"SNUFFER"
Every once in a while I like to go find an old story from those I look up to and read. Today it was this one.
A story about following through with what you started and making the outcome the best you can. Tony does just that.
Nice job. I feel like I've done a Maryland Double if I get two groundhogs - on the same weekend.
