Title: Arrow nock guestion!!!
Post by: joevan125 on October 09, 2009, 09:50:00 AM
I shoot heritage 150s and i have several custom bows and a lot of different Bear bows. My nock is way to tight on some of these bows and i was wondering what kind of nock i could buy that would fit these bigger strings but will also fit my arrows. When i shoot these bigger strings my nock will not stay on my arrow.

Either re-serve with smaller serving or try GT or Bohning nocks.

Fold up a piece of sandpaper and remove just enough plastic to to get it where you want it.  It doesn't take very long and eliminates the hassle of changing out all your nocks.  This has become a regular thing when I build my arras.

Like said you could reserve it.I like to use Easton 3D Super nocks on my arrows with push in nocks. They have the largest and deepest throat of the push in nocks I've found.Easton 3D Super nocks are larger then their regular Super nocks.

Joe, I lke to make my serving fit my nocks, instead if vice-versa.

I will change the serving size, and add a piece or two of bowstring material under the serving until I get it just right.

Easton 3D Super nocks will fit in your CE Heritage 150,250 and 350 arrows except Heritage 90's.I use them in my CE Heritage 250 and Gold Tip,Beman ICS,Blackhawk Carbonwood and aluminum arrows with a uni-bushing.

Check out 3Rivers, they have an item named the Nock Tune. It is supposed to adjust the nocks to fit your string.

Joe
Get some Accuknocks from 3Rivers.They will solve your nock problems. The Accuknock will shoot from a lot of different size strings with no need to adjust the nock or the serving.

I would not attempt to stretch or sand knocks. That is asking for a dry fire.

I second the Accunocks. They break a little easier if hit, but snap on and fit any string.

I have the same issue on one bow.  I just got a new string for it so problem solved, but what I did before that and in the past on other bows, was to use Beman ICS solid color nocks.  They have worked well for me on most medium and larger strings.  They have good size base of nock area, but the ends of the nock can be a little tight.  I put a screw driver in them as a wedge to open them up.  It is best to heat them a little in boiling water first to soften them a little.  Then wedge them open and cool them They are tough nocks.  I have never broken one unless it has been split from an arrow.  Even then they don't break.  Other translucent nocks and even some opaque nocks I have tried shatter when hit.  I worry about spreading them, but not the opaque Bemans.
