On Friday Oct 2, I took this buck from the same stand that I took the buck on right of my AVATAR. He came through about 200 yards from a cut wheat field. It was raining off and on. The pass through shot did a perfect job with WW Elite. He went down insight. I'm really liking the bow I made. It draws 61# and my arrows weigh over 700 gr. I hope you all have good luck with your hunts. Mike

Mike, great deer. super beams and tremendous length in the 2's and 3's. must be very characteristic of the big boys in that area....i see on brothersofthebow.com in the 08 pics that your bro's have very similar looking deer wiith long beams and great tine length. nice, very nice!

Pure special Mike! Well done. Nice looking bow too.

Can't wait to see the footage in Primal Dreams II...can you check with Speilberg on what is the holdup???
You know, this winter when you are bored and want to keep your form warm and in use, you could make me a bow...you can call it Spotted Fawn I :biglaugh: .
Can't wait to see the buck you wait to use your 2nd tag on!
-
Congrats Mike!!!
The response from my youngest son was "WOW...THATS A WHITETAIL????"
Maybe his daddy took an eastbound train...and met a girl.
Can you imagine trying to run through a thicket with THOSE on your head? A hat is bad enough.
Congrats again. :D
-
Mike,

Wow, Congrats on that nice buck. I like the rich dark cooler of his antlers. looks like that bow was made to lay across those antlers on display in the off season.

Can you post this on the Il thread?

Guru- You have to have a sense of humor! Ha!
The bow was wet and photos realy turned out well.

Awesome!
-
Great job Mike, congrats!!
-
Congrats on both. Nothing like killing one with your handmade gear. Those antlers are a beautiful color. They sort of match the bow.
-
Wow... What a bruiser he is!!. Nice bow too.
If you want to keep the mojo on that stand, your going to have to make a new bow each time you hunt it. :bigsmyl:
-
Great job Mike. Thanks for sharing. Looks like you might have a pretty good gene pool to work with on that property.
-
Congratulations Mike! :clapper:
-
Yes we try to keep the buck age up and take 4 to 5 does for every buck. My brother David is a good motivator for me (see Aug/Sept 2009 TBM) as we have been hunting this place for close to 10 years now. Mike
-
Let me add my congradulations also Mike, as everyone else has said....what a great buck!
Hunting a place for that long is special, kind of like going home...

A wonderful, mature buck Mike! Congratulations and good luck with your second tag.
John
-
Awesome buck Mike! Glad the new bow is a winner.
I liked the science of nothing pic too. LOL
-
Congratulations, Mike....very fine buck.
-
Thanks guys.
Denny- There is "nothing" wrong with having fun! Good luck to you in Michigan.
John- Thank you and John Girardi at Old Master Crafters for helping me sellect some wood and glass. The bow shoots a heavy arrow very well.
-
Mike, it's time to start giving lessons. Sort of like a bootcamp type thing Like Barry does. Sign me up for the first slot.
-
Very nice buck!
-
Ha! Jon... I don't think you need it. :>) All you need is passion AND a good place to hunt. I am so blessed to have both. There are so many here on this site that hunt just as hard and just as smart for the caliber of deer they have in their area. I get to hunt with a guy like my brother David who is equally as pleased to film as hunt, so we currently have good age structure of both bucks and does. In the case of this early season buck, he tastes as goood as he looks. Ha!
-
Wow congrat's and taking a deer with a bow you made must be the best feeling ever. Hope you have many more!!! Jerry
-
Actually Mike, I DO need the lessons. What success I have had is mostly due to hunting every second I can get. But I am not to the point where I can do it on a regular basis yet. So anyway...sign me up for the first slot!
-
I think Mike's bootcamps might be a little more strenuous than Uncle Barry's...but sign me up too!
-
Very Cool. Nice job..
-
Oh come up Steve... you know Barry's camp required all attendees to push his 4X4 truck out of the mud!
Thanks Tdog.
-
Well, I was going to sign up for Barry's but I can't even push my own truck out of the mud! Guess I'm out:)
