Title: Ohio Success #6
Post by: pitbull on October 05, 2009, 11:09:00 AM
Hey guys, just got back from my annual opening week deer hunt and had an awesome week. I took the following deer all with a Holm-Made River Runner 48#, 43# at my draw. I used GT 3555 shafts full length, tipped with a WW on the business end for a total arrow weight of 432 gr.

9/27 eve. 25 yds.

9/30 eve. 25 yds.

10/2 eve. 16 yds
   (http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt195/cougar6/deer009.jpg)

10/4 morn. 18 yds.

Took this fine young doe tonight with my trusty River Runner, GT 3555 470 gr. arrow weight, tipped with a G-5 Montec. She was 12 yards and only went 45 yds. after the shot. No one around to take a pic so it is what it is.

10/21 15 yds. same set-up as last doe.

jcar314 my hunting buddy and I try to donate at least 1 deer a piece to FHFH I wish the county I live in had a program sponsor, I end up going 3 counties south to donate. Onions, that First Lite wool is not scratchy at all, just need to wash it once before the first time you wear it, as far as durability it is not as tough as virgin wool, it does dry quickly, have not been smelled or picked wearing it yet!

Thats some great shooting pitbull. How long have you been shooting a stickbow and how often do you practice and how do you practice. Im new to trad archery (7 months) and i missed 2 deer opening weekend and i practice a LOT.

Im just trying to absorb as much information as possible so that i can become lethal with a stickbow.

Gordon, I'm not tagged out I hunt both zone B&C. That is a total of 10. If I have the opportunuty I may take 1 more to donate to FHFH and be done.

I didn't think that you could do that unless you were using urban permits.  I thought that if you killed two in zone b you could only kill four in zone c for example.  Any combination up to 6 deer no matter where you took them.
Title: Re: Ohio Success #6
Post by: pitbull on October 23, 2009, 12:07:00 PM
Gordon, I know there is a lot of confusion about the regs with the use of antlerless permits. There is no urban permit anymore, in urban zones the antlerless permits have taken their place. The regs. change annually and it is basically as easy as keeping up on them each season if you hunt all three zones plus the urban zone your total bag limit can be 18. It is all broken down in the regs. I know I hunt with an officer.
