Went out hunting for the first time yesterday with a longbow.bought it in the spring practiced everyday til now was very comfortable with a 15yard or less shot. As im walking down the fence row in the morning it was foggy as heck about 15 yards to my right im running parallel to the cornfield. i notice through the fog something out of place along that corn. eventually it s heading closer finally at about 40 yards i know its a deer no wait its a buck! and a good one now all he has do is follow that corn straight to me and hes gonna be broadside at 15 yards. but i know theres another fence row to his right and i know hes probably gonna turn there and be about 20-25 yards away . he does and he stops there standing completely broadside! We are instinctive shooters and i had to fight off my every instinct to take the shot. but better judgement won and looking back at yesterday im glad i held off. I d rather have had an awesome opportunity. Then a bad ending.I also learned two things today my compound bow was easier to manuver in my stand and feathers scraping against anything are way louder then vanes. but i wouldnt trade it for the world.
You got it. :clapper: Your hooked.
Yep your hooked.
Bye bye training wheels! :saywhat:
Way to go Joe. Your account shows you've learned true blessings of trad. BION, it gets better each time out. Welcome.
And when that opportunity comes, it is as though everything in the universe has worked together in concert just for that one perfect moment. Thank you for sharing your walk. Can't wait to start taking mine!
Killdeer
The 1st time I took my LB to the field, it felt like a toothpick in my hand. Extremly lightweight and so small in my hand. I used to think that the LB was a handicap, now I think of it as a challange. I have taken the wheelie bow to the field for the last time.
Awesome, you are definitely hooked! Sounds like a great walk in the woods!
Awesome! That's what I'm talking about!
Ya da man! The most exciting time I ever had was with a bull elk I never got a shot at. He was big, slabbering, squealing, PO'ed and close.
Good Jugdement make good longbow hunters. poor judgement makes for two day long searches and often disappointment.
longbows and bowhunting is addicting. if it was easy, it would not be so full of adrenalin :)
