I was wondering weight vs, speed. I know alot of hunters use a heavy broadhead (150+)and some use lighter(-125). People say better penetration with the heaver but better speed with the lighter. Would it not be the same penetration with faster arrow vs. a slower? Also wood over carbon or aluminum are there any advantages other than durablity?
There are so many variables in arrow selection. For me I feel a well tuned arrow will penetrate the best.Like some use a 125 gr. broadhead and some use a 150 gr. head, that could be what they tuned to their bows. Some use the 125 gr. head but also have a 50 or 100 gr. insert with it.I feel a well tuned arrow at 9-11 grs. per pound would be a great arrow for speed, penetration and flight. For me I just don't add heavier heads without tuning it to my bow.Carbons are tough arrows and the most tunable I feel, aluminum and wood have been around for along time and work great too.
